Message from Finder

My uncle found her roaming the highway near our neighborhood and asked around to see if it belonged to anyone. No one claimed it so he brought it back . Super skinny and very thirsty. Didn’t have a collar or anything but loved our cat tree and scratcher lol. will be taking it to the vet tomorrow to make sure it is alright! pls lmk if this is your pet!

This appears to be a lost cat and it is a Purebred cat. Lost Cats can sometimes be hiding for a good three weeks before they start to become visible. Some have been recovered between six and eight weeks. They get disoriented and they don't go home even if they are very close to home which they usually are. The furthest way that they roam is up to 1 mile, but all the cats that I've assisted people in finding have been found within 1/3 of a mile from their home. Some are are a few hundred feet from their home. I know you said your uncle canvassed a little bit can he go back to the area and see where else the cat may have come from. I will post my found cat advice. 🐈‍⬛Found Cat Protocol- Follow the Law Please follow: 🐾Just remember found animals cannot be re-homed by you. You have to make an effort by law to find the owner and if not turn over to Animal Control who will take to the shelter your town contracts with. ⬇️ Please knock on your neighbors door’s within a mile radius of where you found the cat. It’s the law to report a found pet to the local police department as well as Animal Control and should also be reported to the shelter that Animal Control for the town contracts with. Owners who have lost their pets will make a LOST pet report and Police and Animal Control work together to reunite the found pets. Lost cats have patterns and they usually stay within a mile and most are found much closer to home as in a couple houses away or next street over. Hand out cat flyers, speak to people. Post flyers up on poles as well. Please be sure to get proof of ownership before handing the cat over. Call the local police and Animal Control to see if there was a missing pet report made the matches. Take to any Vet for the free service of scanning for a microchip. And thank you for helping this Kitty. Animals choose their rescuers. We cannot let them down. K.R.
