NJ Dog Trappers *Volunteer* list below. Please do not contact any of the trappers if you’re already working with one. Trappers work independently. 🔷Notify animal control, non emergency police & shelters 🔷 Share to your *LOCAL* township (& county) Facebook pages & engage your community. FLIERS generate sightings. Once there’s a sighting, a trapper would set up a feeding station & humane trap. Contact a trapper, so they’ll be ready at the last sighting. 🔷Buddha Dog Rescue and Recovery LOST PET Things To Do (+ FLIER template): https://www.jotform.com/app/bdrr/lost-pet-portal?fbclid=IwAR3Gk6_8u0V68oNUPTYaBALVFkyjqGQgmZnKAsCutqChOeh-hsiDpemyFmE. Lost/Missing Www.buddhadogrescueandrecovery.com Www.lostdog911.org Www.bravok911.com Or other tracking services in your area 🐕🐕🐕Tips for lost pets: -Notify the police via non emergency number. -Notify the local surrounding shelters as lost.🐈‍⬛You can easily do this online- at your shelter website & on 24PetConnect. -Go to all shelters- every kennel, IN PERSON, dont breed search. Bring a flyer to the shelter with your contact info. -When searching online, look at shelter intake of found animals & other sections when people have found animals. -Contact the microchip co & report lost. Update your contact info with them. -Post on Nextdoor, Ring & Neighborhood apps are very helpful. -Post on www.Pawboost.com, www.Petfbi.com, www.petcolovelost.com, www.lostmydoggie.com, www.lostmykitty.com, www.akcreunite.org. -Post on Facebook groups for the city/town and county the animal was lost in. Post on the pages of the Lost&Found in those areas. Expand it to surrounding towns, counties, the state they were lost in and the surrounding states. (Animals and people travel) -Post on Craigslist. It has places to post & search too. -Make Flyers & posters because not everyone goes online or visits all the sites listed above. Hand them out in Shelters, gas stations, police station, libraries, township offices, bus/train stations, bus stops, grocery stores, mini marts, nail salons, restaurants/dinners/pizza places, vets, pet stores, groomers, sports areas like soccer, baseball, football clubs, neighborhood, parks, schools, bus drivers. Any and all businesses and places that people frequent in your town and surrounding towns. Good Luck! I hope your pet comes home soon!🐾 *** Update your post at the top with any new information or news. This way people reading it or sharing it will be up to date on what is going on. Shared from someone else’s post of additional suggestions: Here is the Quick Action Plan for lost dogs from Buddha Dog Rescue and Recovery. https://www.buddhadogrescueandrecovery.com/pages/quick-action-plan And other helpful links from Buddha containing information on flyers, survival mode, feeding stations, etc Good luck and prayers you find your lost dog soon. https://www.jotform.com/app/bdrr/lost-pet-portal ♦️if you have added contact information, that’s great. Adding contact info to your post (phone number) is very helpful and easier than PM or relying on seeing a post on Facebook if your dog is sighted or found. If you use PM, make sure you check requests from others who are not on your friend list. ♦️Check with neighbors in case they found your dog and took them in. ♦️Check security cameras and ask neighbors to do so also. ♦️POST FLIERS ASAP, not everyone uses social media. Link to help you make a flyer- https://petfbi.org/flyer.html#/ ♦️Please contact police and file a missing dog report. If you live in a development that has security/public safety- notify them. Contact your HOA(Homeowners Association) if you have one, they can send out a mass email alert. Contact vets and shelters. Most have Facebook pages you can message. ♦️ When looking for a lost dog-do not yell. Dogs on the run are very scared and can go into survival mode. When they hear yelling, even from their owner, they think they are in trouble. Even the best trained dogs will run. It is best to talk calmly for him in a playful or baby talk way. When searching for a lost dog, the worst thing you can do is walk or drive around yelling their name. When they hear yelling, even from their owner, they think they are in trouble. When driving around, by the time the dog hears you and gets to where you were, you are gone, hence confusing the dog even more. ♦️Post to any Facebook groups from your development. ♦️Try posting on the NextDoor app and Craigslist. ♦️Check Craigslist. Not everyone uses Facebook. ♦️Let the mail carriers/school bus drivers know to be on the lookout. ♦️Older dogs/disabled dogs usually travel downhill and towards water. ♦️Check embankments and ditches. ♦️If you have another dog, try using her/him to find the missing dog. ♦️Could be hiding scared under a porch/deck/drain pipe- anywhere a dog could find shelter. ♦️Place some unwashed owners clothing outside for scent ♦️Start cooking some tasty treats on an outdoor grill, slow cooker. Hot dogs, bacon work well. Can also throw some cut up hot dogs in the yard, bacon drippings, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce.. Use bacon drippings, cut up hot dogs and spread them along with some liquid smoke. ♦️Check water areas including swimming pools. In colder weather, lakes, ponds and rivers can have thin ice. Dogs can not determine the ice is thin and can fall through it. ♦️Contact microchip company if microchipped. Make sure your contact info is up to date. ♦️Also check with the shelters, in person, and the police in case the pup was brought to them. ♦️Also be aware of scammers who might contact you saying they have your dog and will ask you to send them a code. Ignore them.
