Gray and black tabby cat, very lean, wearing a purple collar with no tag

This cat visited me a few weeks ago, and I hadn't seen it again until just now (the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 11). It's a gray and black tabby cat. It's wearing a purple collar, but there's no tag on it. The last 2-3 inches of its tail are solid black. I gave him/her a can of wet food, and I always have water out on my porch for strays.
