I know you’re already searching like it’s a full-time job …. As you all are out searching, it’s important to TALK to your neighbors, showing Gojo's pretty photo, leaving your contact info. People will help keep eyes out when they know how much s/he means to you. Cats can become trapped in sheds or crawlspaces and need human help to get out. LOST CAT OPEN DOOR Scatter the contents of your hoover bag around the outside boundary of your home - they can scent their way home from miles away, using the familiar smell of your home. If putting out clothing make sure that it hasn’t been washed so that it smells of “you”. Going out late at night/ early morning when it is quieter and less noise distraction around will make it easier for you to hear each other’s calls. If you are calling for him make sure you do this as you walk towards your home not away from it so that if he follows the direction of your voice you’re leading him home, not further away. Also ask any neighbours to check their sheds/ outbuildings in case he’s been inquisitive and got trapped inside somewhere. If he is an indoor cat he is likely scared and hiding somewhere very close by - look under/behind any items/objects that he may be seeking shelter from - under bushes, behind bins etc. when searching at night take a torch - the light from its beam will reflect in his eyes and you will be able to spot him even if he doesn’t respond to your calls. Put up posters in all surrounding streets and inform the microchip company that he is missing.Put out water, and some of YOUR dirty clothes (dirty socks are nice and stinky)/blankets (dry in dryer first to enhance smell). Depending on the weather, you might want to put out a plastic tub with straw for shelter. Go out every morning and evening walking (folks seem successful around 10:30 p.m., but don't go alone) with food/treats in bowl rattling it, calling your cats name. Cats are often hiding within a 5-house radius. Do NOT give up. There was a cat a week or so ago, they went out every night for 5 nights, finally on the 5th night, they heard it's meow, it was trapped in a neighbor's shed. Another was hiding in a tree from the neighbor's dogs. Check buildings, bushes, trees, and storm drains around your house. Also in the house/garage, keep all doors/closets OPEN in case it's hiding in the house. If you can, leave door cracked open from which cat would most likely sneak back in during the night. If desperate, sprinkle your urine near the cracked door as stronger scent guidance. Worked for us!

Most cats are scared when they get out. They find first safe spot and this is where they stay, this is usually within a half block from your home in any direction. Best time to look is after midnite and up to 3 am when the scarey daytime noises stop. Sit outside your house, near the place kitty escaped from. Stay put for at least an hour, talking in a normal tone so kitty can hear you. Have familiar smells with you, like litter box or favorite food or treats. If weather is mild, consider sleeping on your porch. Do this every night, same time...between midnight and 3 am. You could also try walking around the neighborhood. Take a flashlight and shine it to watch for the glow of cat eyes. Take a can of food or treats to shake. .something your cat loves. Softly call kitty name. You may have to go several nights in row, at same time. Kitty will be cautious, must know it is you before she shows herself. Listen closely for soft meows...she wants to be found. Don't give up, cats are resilient and smart. I would be so bold as to say 95% of lost cats are within a hundred feet of house but are not found because owner gives up. Cats can be missing for weeks and months, being steps from your house. Many good stories of cats coming home, even after much time passes. Hang flyers in neighborhood. ..people need to know she is missing, so they don't assume she is a stray if they see her. I found my cat after putting flyers on house for blocks in my neighborhood. People have seen her, someone may be feeding her...you have to get word out IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD! Have neighbors check garages and sheds. She could be trapped in one of those locations. Contact shelters and stay in touch with them. Most importantly, have faith and be consistently persistent in active regular searches AT NIGHT. good luck with getting her back. It will happen.
