MESSAGE FROM OWNER

I made an appointment with my vet for my cat to get neutered. He's 9 months old. I dropped him off and later received a call that my cat had escaped. I’ve never been more devastated in my life. I took some treats and drove to the vets. When I arrived the person in the front seemed lost when I said I needed to go through the back door because my cat had run away. She went to the back and after 5 minutes finally let me and the head veteran described to me what happened. He said that they were trying to transfer my cat from the carrier into a cage where they could inject him but in the process he slipped out through the back door which was open and the only thing there was was a mosquito net when he obviously ran through, then he jumped on a trashcan and jumped over the fencing they said they ran after him but lost him since he was too fast. They didn’t even know what direction my cat went. They said that he could have gone across BUSY street or either left to the reidentals or right to an intersection. I ended up looking at the residuals for two hours, sobbing and calling out his name. I asked everyone that was out if they had seen the cat. This is the worst place to have a cat go missing I just want my cat back. I've been sobbing on and off for 4 hours straight and I can’t stop thinking about how scared he must be. I'm going to put up missing posters tomorrow and keep looking. I just want my cat back. I’ve never had a connection to a pet like this before and he didn’t have any breakfast since he was supposed to get neutered. I feel so guilty he must be so hungry right now.  The most frustrating part was that the back door from which he escaped from was still open when we got there meaning they must leave it open a lot since they have mesquite netting and think that the fencing will be full proof. But the fencing was a Dimond type of netting so any scared cat can possibly just climb it. Although they were apologetic they never said sorry and didn’t assist with anything else. I can’t stop thinking about how avoidable this situation is. I once saw a video where a girl hired people to find their pet do you guys know what it is called and how much it is? I'm so desperate. P.S. He doesn’t have his collar on when he went missing which is so devastating and he doesn’t have a microchip

The USPS has a service where you can hand them, let’s say 500 fliers, and you pick the streets that they will deliver them to. House by house, apt by apt. It’s on their website. They even give you the specs for the flier.

The circumstances of this are horrifying! I am so sorry for this you’re just trying to do the right thing and now you’ve lost your cat because of the incompetence of the vet that you were kind enough not to mention their name although I think you should. There needs to be consequences for their lack of professionalism. Otherwise this could very well happen to somebody else. Follow the above advice and I would insist that the vet participate in the location of your cat. And the above comment about going to the news is correct nothing will this man’s business quicker than if this word gets out that they did it this way. again so very sorry for your loss also try to find if there is a colony being fed anywhere in the area feeders know who comes to their colony and cats can typically find a colony to eat food at. If you check with the feeder they may know if your cats been coming around. Posters everywhere and I mean everywhere put it on peoples mailboxes on the side of their mailboxes. I got a feeling your best bet is going to be contacting anyone who’s feeding in the area look around for any place where you see paper plates and bowls that’s a sign that somebody is feeding their. asking the neighborhood if they know of any colonies that somebody is feeding at. My heart is breaking for you I am so very sorry I will pray for safe return of your cat

I am so sorry to hear about your loss Cat. There’s a website that is called some thing like how to find your kitty that will give you some chips but here are some of the highlights; posters posters posters everywhere for block area. Tape them to the sides of the mailboxes of your immediate neighbors and also don’t forget behind you. Be real clear with the information on the poster date last seen place last scene. continually check the shelters, and cross reference this site to see if anyone has found a cat that fits your cats description. They have filters to make it easier. If your cat is used to being inside they will not go far if it’s an indoor outdoor cat then increase your range of looking. Put your clothes outside your house with your scent on it to help your cat find his way home. If possible and there are no other animals inside when you are home keep a window or a door ajar so if your cat does find his way back home he can get inside your house. Don’t forget to look up I want could not find my cat because he had been chased 30 feet up into a tree probably by a coyote or a dog. Go out and call for your cat at predawn hours and at sunset when they’re most active tell your neighbors to check the garage and sheds and crawlspaces volunteer to crawl into their crawlspaces if they are not blocked off. Also have them check their security camera footage as well as checking your own. You might want to invest in a trail cam and place it in a way so if he does wander back to your property but can’t get inside your house you’ll know he’s been there. If you have A cat door set it on in only so if he does come in he can’t get back out again. There’s also a company called Find My kitty.com that will do Robo calls for you for a small fee and will help you put posters up. When it rains go back and put more posters up if they come down go back and put more posters up the people you live around need to know that you’re not going to give up on this cat and keep it in the front of their minds. These are just some suggestions I pray you find your baby

Omg, how awful! I am do sorry. Hopefully the Vet staff is helping you search. Reach out to all local news channels to see if they can do a story. As you stated, you need to blanket the area with flyers....4-5 block radius at a minimum as scared cats will hide and you need visibility. Hand out flyers to everyone you see, especially postal carriers, UPS and Amazon drivers as they are in the area daily. Alert all the local shelters and post a flyer there too. Also post on Nextdoor, with cat rescues, pet stores and Vet offices, especially as not microchiped. Hoping you find your pet safe and sound. Good luck!
