Message from Owner

This is Cinder my 5 year old grey short hair kitty. She was last seen at midnight outside by our porch, but has not returned . Her collar was found the next morning on the ground down the street. I have went around my neighborhood looking and asking if anyone has seen her, but no luck. I’m very worried that she might have gotten taken:( However, if anyone sees a cat familiar to her please contact me. She is very shy and anxious, especially if one tries to hold her.

I’m so sorry this happened to her. Why is she outside unattended AND at night? 🥲 Sad seeing so many kitties go missing 30+, just this week. Poor baby, she must be so scared and hungry out on her own. 🐈 When a cat goes missing, they can’t easily find their way home using only their scent. You must be proactive and look for them. 🔍Look under yours & your neighbor’s cars, bushes & hedges, look for glowing eyes w/flashlight, call her early evening when it’s quiet and they come out from hiding to eat. Posting is important, but please search for her, too. They don’t go far 3-4 houses away, they stay in one place until they are scared off by dogs, coyotes, or loud equipment. The challenge is to find her before she gets any further away. 📣Please hang flyers near the area where she went missing, it’ll get the immediate attention from pedestrians, drivers and your neighbors will know you’re looking for her. 🐈‍⬛ YOU’RE the one that can bring her home safely, she will recognize your voice and your scent. Please check with SDHS Lost & Found daily, post on ND. If you’re able to find her, PLEASE, please don’t let him go outside unattended. Cats have the intelligence of a 3yo, they don’t know the dangers they face outdoors with coyotes, dogs, cars, and worst of all people who don’t like them in their yard. It only takes an hour to train a cat on a leash, then she can be out doors safely. This is Coyote Country.

Most indoor cats will stay very close to home, but they will go into hiding because they go into survival mode, especially during the day. If it’s at all possible for you to put some recently worn clothing, bedding, a cat tree, if your cat has one near a open door window or garage where the cat will have access to return home, they usually will do it between midnight and 3 AM in the morning. Do not put a litter box out because that will attract other predators such as coyotes, raccoons, skunks, etc. At night time, you can also take a flashlight looking under cars in trees and bushes Taking with you a bag of treats if your cat is treat motivated, calling its name softly staying low to the ground, shaking the bag and using the flashlight to possibly light up your cats eyes. Sometimes they can stay in hiding for days so don’t give up. Hope these tips help and that you’re beautiful. Cat returns home safely and soon🙏🐈‍⬛❤️ don’t give up sometimes they can stay in hiding for over a week until they get really hungry, especially when a lot of commotion is going on during the daytime

Keep calmly calling your cat at all hours, especially wee! Put some of your cat’s bedding outside for it to smell, hopefully enticing it to head home! Keep looking for your cat and use a flashlight to help see its eyes in case it is hiding in a dark spot!

Notify your animal control. Please have your neighbors check their garages, sheds and vegetation. Place pieces of your unwashed clothing on your porch. Open your garage door or a window just enough for your cat to slide underneath. Go to your animal shelter to check for your cat.

I wish people would keep their furry family members indoors where they are safe. There are far too many Coyotes that have intermingled into our world because their world has been diminished, and continues to be diminished. Keep your pets inside for their sake and for your mental sake.
