Ashley Nations That's quite a story. Dear little pups. Lucky for the one that you were there and so very sorry for the little one who didn't make it to safety. That must've have been horrific to witness.😞
We see so many lost or loosed dogs come thru here every week. Some got out, some are let out, some abandoned. I'm always checking lost and found notices. Nextdoor.com have notices called Pawboost Alert that come to my Facebook page and I also look thru all their postings on their website. My cat's freak out when a stray comes thru. A couple of times we've had to rescue our one cat out of a tree he was chased up. Many cats can quickly scamper up a tree but getting down is another story. I hard pat the lower trunk and try coaxing them down... sometimes it works, most times my husband has to break out the extension ladder.
And even tho we keep the porch, where their cozy houses are, enclosed with a makeshift gate to keep out larger animals, anytime my cats sense a dog around they bolt. Cats run, dogs chase. It's like a law of the jungle or something. Not the dog's fault, it's just how it is. Many dogs who come thru are obviously lost and pay no mind to cats. But others, especially if running with other dogs, well, just very dangerous. Sometimes I wish I'd been born and raised with a more hardened heart! 🫣💔
