This is all general info. Not all will apply, so it’s up to the finder as to what is needed, and when. Some posts can be made prior to securing (which I hope someone does, since it was mentioned cat was terrified!) Ask around to see if neighbours and/or local vet clinics recognize the cat. Also have one of the clinics check for a microchip (free). If the cat is well fed and looks in good condition, it hopefully lives nearby. If no luck, get signs up and post on neighbourhood/community and any applicable lost & found groups. Only hand the cat over with proof of ownership – vet records and photos. If you feel the cat is truly lost, contact Toronto Animal Services/shelter(s) to file a found report, which can usually be done while still holding onto the cat (less stressful for it). And be sure to also post on the fb group Toronto Lost and Found Cats
