Bella was outright adopted, not fostered. I see comments with screenshots from someone talking about knowing the dog, but if no NOK steps forward to claim the dog she can’t live at the shelter forever. At no point has the shelter ever made dogs unavailable to the public for anxiety reasons. Interested adopters are just educated on the dog’s needs. Bella even had a behavior waiver and was on anti-anxiety which goes home with the animal. And adopters are provided free obedience training via the shelter. Having met Bella, I can’t imagine any amount of training would’ve made her comfortable while she was still in a shelter environment. Someone adopted her and she managed to escape. Every dog goes home with a pamphlet about how to introduce a dog to a home and things to watch out for. Whether the adopters actually pay attention to the suggestions or not is up to them. While it would be great to do intensive research into every adopter, when you have a shelter that deals with thousands of dogs, that’s never going to be realistic. And you can’t make people listen, unfortunately.

Michele Straney we connected with her foster and spoke with him. Unfortunately we just cannot fly in the area without additional FAA approval. However they are very proactive and I have a feeling will be able to contain her soon.
