At the top of my page is a pinned post with tips on how to find or return a lost dog. This Facebook post includes links to other local Lost and Found Facebook pages to save you time and effort, as well as links to places where you can report found/lost pets. There's a video link on how to catch a loose and normally scared dog (e.g. calling their name – even by the owner - can send them running the other way if in survival mode, don't chase, etc.). https://youtu.be/cmiZzB643is There’s lots of information about creating a scent trails by WALKING and other ways like putting out your dirty laundry, all so the dog can smell his way home. Dogs can smell up to 11 miles away. In the comments is a diagram of a wagon wheel showing how to lay out a scent trail leading back to your home ……………do this ASAP…………….. 🏃💨 🐾 Petco Love Lost offers an AI-powered Pet ID with photo recognition to help reunite lost pets with their families. Follow these tips per CMM Lost Pet Recovery and Humane Trapping: https://theretrievers.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/TheRetrievers_ActionPlan.pdf Create a scent station (items with your/your dog’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, etc toys, etc.). Check it often, especially quiet times (late evening/early morning). This step especially important if in an unfamiliar area! If you have another dog, walk the area with it on a leash. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Post simple signs (large neon poster, large photo, word “lost,” your phone number) in your yard and neighborhood. (Put in plastic sleeve/page protector first.). Contact the microchip company (be sure your contact info is up-to-date). Check the Shelter(s) at least every other day - in person! You know your pet best. Post on NextDoor app as covers your surrounding neighborhoods. If your dog is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling. When your pet is spotted, do not call or chase him/her! Just sit down on the ground and be very quiet. He/she is scared and any voices can push it away (even familiar voices). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/8-helpful-tips-for-finding-your-lost-dog/. Also, pet stealing is on the rise sadly. Check https://petfbi.org/how-to-protect-your-pet/stolen-pets/ for tips. Includes filing a police report, contacting your local media, checking Craig’s List where your pet may be posted for sale. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam)

General Information: Set up a scent station. Get a scent that the dog is familiar with out in front of the house (EX Worn clothing / shoes from a family member that the dog lives with.) Hang it out high so that the smell can travel and guide the dog back home. Keep an access point open in case the dog returns. Please post signs with the dogs' picture and your contact information on the sign. Post these signs all over as if someone spots your dog the person can contact you and provide a location of where the dog is. (Not everyone is on Social Media). Ask your neighbors to check their doorbell or house cameras (if applicable), sheds and garage. Call or go to the Animal Shelter in your area and tell them that your dog is missing to see if it has been picked up. Prayers your dog is found safely. Beware of scammers.

Put a scent station outside. Things that smells like your pup and yourself. If microchipped, notify the chip company that your fur baby is missing. File a lost dog report with HSPPR. Notify local vets in case he/she is brought in.
