Put his litter box on your porch, as well as an article of clothing that you have worn(the smellier, the better!) Cats have an exceptional sense of smell, and will come back to the familiar scent. Leave a window cracked nearby so that you can hear him when he returns. Cats usually don’t go very far, usually only a few houses in any direction. They often hide during the day and come out at dusk when they feel safer, so look for him then. Call softly, and look for his eyes shining under shrubs or cars. Post pictures in the neighborhood, and ask neighbors to check sheds or garages in case he was closed in. If you put food out for him, stay close by so that other animals don’t come for it and frighten him away. Check animal control in person in case he was turned in. Don’t give up! Sometimes it takes several days to find them.
