Message from Owner

Our cat got out this morning. He is not an outdoor cat, but the door was unexpectedly opened. He’s terrified of being outside, so we’re really scared that he ran off and now is lost.

call animal control or a local cat rescue and get a animal trap. once you get this trap get sardines and tuna mix it together make sure you get it with water because oil is bad.. and put it the back of the trap use some of the water with very little bit of the tuna or sardines in the trail because you don't want them to eat pieces and run away. into the trap.. get a blanket or a towel to put on top of the trap. get their litter box put it next to the trap take an article of clothing that smells like you also put it next to the trap put a bowl of water out there just in case they get thirsty and they're too scared to eat. but most the time your cat is hiding nearby. you're on a time crunch cuz they've already been out for a little bit. but the most important thing you can do and you can do this whether you're in a condo, apartment or a house go out and call their name. go out as many times throughout the day and night as you possibly can the more the better. eventually you're probably going to hear them crying back and they're too scared to move out of the bushes.. if they're not normally outside typically this is what they do they hide. I got this off a video on YouTube I can't find that video but I do remember what I did when a foster cat that I took in who my roommate adopted got out because somebody left the door open. ... she hadn't been with us very long and she was extremely skittish so I never thought we would catch her but I did with this video said and it's what I'm telling you to do. I had that trap I think for a 4 days and for 6 days I was out there calling her name.. but within six days she was in that trap and I also was able to catch a cat that I have been trying to save for a while as well and she went to a home from one of the rescues.. so this was just great I think you can get your cat back this way. try it it's worth a shot. just stay hopeful and don't give up.

Please list the cross streets. File a lost cat report with Virginia Beach animal control. If the cat is chipped, make sure the registry has your current contact information. Check the shelter several times a week to see if your cat has been brought in. Tonight after 10 PM, go out on your yard with a bag of kitty treats and a flashlight, walk around your yard, shaking the kitty treats, bag, and your cat’s name, look in the bushes with the flashlight to see if your cat is hiding there. Print flowers with your cats picture and your contact information and take them around to your neighbors and ask them to call you if they see your cat. Also ask them if they’ve been in their shed outbuilding a garage since your cat went missing. Cats go in those places to hide and feel safe. Cats go in those structures to feel safe and then when they get locked in, you cannot hear them crying to get out unless you’re standing right next to the structure. Look under porches, decks, and any structure with an open crawlspace. Cats can come back home after a long period of being gone. Most of the time it means a neighbor thought your cat was stray and took it in to take care of it.

Leave an open access like an attached garage cracked about 8 inches 24/7. If the cat is left alone they will attempt to get back in when it’s dark, especially early am.

Shake his treat bag and gently call his name. Also if he gets canned food, bang the can of food gently on the concrete. Or he knows anything about canned salmon/tuna open a can call him and tap that in the concrete 🙏🙏
