Here are some ideas that may help... Call the local animal shelters in your area – nearest ones first to file a found report and to see if anyone has reported the pet missing. If you are unable to hold the pet, you can either take it to your local animal shelter or call your local animal control or police department to pick it up. Check to see if the cat has a microchip (take to a vet or nearest SPCA). Post on other organizations on Facebook as well. Knock on all neighbors’ doors to see if they lost their cat, if not, give them flyers with info. Provide flyers with information to all neighbors, mail carriers, trash collectors, UPS, FED EX, Amazon Delivery Drivers, etc., as well as people/children who frequent or travel the area. HANG FLYERS ASAP!! (Saturate the area) in area found, on mailbox, your house, stop signs, your car, etc., IT’S STILL the BEST WAY to get message out there. NOT everyone uses the Internet--Especially Seniors… DO NOT put flyers inside mailboxes... it’s best to roll them and put them on the outside under the flag. KEEP FLYERS SIMPLE AND EASY TO SEE/READ!! Neon posterboard or paper is eye catching. Picture, Brief Description, Location Found, Phone Number....Write FOUND CAT in large BOLD LETTERS at Top!! Cover with plastic sleeves for weather... Besides the norm…notifying the Police, Animal Control, local vets, shelters, neighbors, SPCA's (that’s usually where someone who loses a pet will call first)… Check all SPCA's/Humane Societies in the area and make out a report, the different counties in the surrounding areas (Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, Delaware, Chester, Lehigh Valley, Phila Counties) are NOT affiliated or linked and there are several locations for each. Also some police depts. in Montgomery County use the Bucks County SPCA in Quakertown. Depending on location found...some local organizations will help with advice or trap etc. dogs and cats:TEAM-RUBY, K911-Lost Dog Search Rescue, Inc., Chester & Montgomery County Pet Search, Team Louie Animal Rescue, Hound Hunters, Berks Dog Search, BuxMont LOST & FOUND PETS (Bucks and Montgomery Counties), etc. Also, you can do a FB search to find other local rescue groups to help... PLEASE NOTE: If someone claims that kitty is their pet, make sure you obtain proper ID, owner verification and Vet papers. There are some people who take advantage of lost pets, claiming to own them and use them as bait cats in dogfighting. I hope kitty is reunited with his/her family soon and God Bless you for taking in this poor kitty.
