Morris Aka Mo's Owner Says

Thank you for your advice and hope! We found him stuck in a blackberry brambles in a neighbor’s yard. Lots of food jingling and searching. Finally decided to meow and let us know where he was. Appreciate the help!

Jen Shipek we have a Catio that our cats enter through a window cat door in our utility room. We have another cat door in the human door that goes to the utility room from the Kitchen and we put it on enter only so our other cats can't get out. We left our Catio gate open so when our missing cat came home, he couldn't get out, only in. It worked perfectly. The 2nd day our cat came in at an early hour while we slept. 🙏 For Mo to return home. Only 15 blocks away from us. We'll be keeping an eye out for him.

And understand you have other cats that are indoors so of course you don't want to let them out so I really suggest this I suggested this to people in the past and it's worked out they're leaving the door open that their cat got out of is the best tip that you can possibly use with an indoor cat because we never know when they're going to sneak back when they feel safe enough to, it's usually at night but we never really know when it's going to happen so the door open tip is great because then they have immediate access back in the house and they're not turned away by a closed door to go back out away from the house and whatever happens happens after that. So is there's any way you can and of course you got to be careful though when your doors open but your other cats that you have could be put in a room so that they're secure and leave the door open your cat got out of or put them in a kennels that's actually the best way to do it because then you know they're secure, they might not like it but it's only temporary and this can get your cat back if you do it soon so it would all be worth it. that's my suggestion.

No litter box it attracts animals you don't want around. Put some dirty laundry outside your door and leave door ajar. Leaving door ajar is tip that helps indoor cats get back inside the most cuz it gives them immediate access back inside instead of being turned away by a shut door. They usually dont go far so when it quiets down at night take a flashlight and check nearby bushes/ shrubs cats love hiding in them and check up trees and also under porches or stairs and under vehicles or in boats. Don't yell their name this can actually scare them in this situation. Calmly call them now and then and just listen. Sitting and talking casually on the phone or to someone while sitting outside can help them hear direction of home. Putting small amount of food inside the open door is OK but no food outside. You want to have them hungry so if you get a live trap which I recommend getting ASAP they will be hungry and more likely to go into the trap. Tell neighbors about them and ask them to check their sheds or any areas they might of snuck into and gotten trapped. Also leave your number so if they see your cat they can call you.
