Suggestions ... Set out some of your unwashed clothing or towels for his scent and your scent. Many suggest putting in a protected area kitty’s used litterbox for scent as well. Cats tend to hide, walk the area and check for any small places where he might be hiding. Ask neighbors to check their garages and outbuildings. Late in the evening/night go out and call out softly for him and he just might pop out from where he is hunkered down. Report his loss to animal control and give them photo of him so they can have it to post on their website. If possible go each day to check if he has been turned in to animal control. (Calling to inquire can be unreliable.) Ask to see those on medical and stray holds. In your neighborhood put up "lost" posters. Ask your mailman to keep an eye open for him as well. You might also consider hiring a local professional pet finder.
