Alan Grindberg don’t give up, it can take quite a while for the cats to return, especially if they are in survival mode you can take to a month. If you can even just leave a chair or a box outside with a blanket in it somewhere where the cat can get refuge if you can’t leave a door open for it to get back in the house. My cat didn’t return for 2 1/2 months, but it did come back.🙏🙏

Kimm Louise McLaughlin it's been a week and nothing has come up so far, my parents won't let me keep the door open, it seems like they've given up on finding him. The occasional coyote howls at night don't exactly keep me encouraged either. Is it redundant to check the same trees and bushes that are closer to the house every night or would it be more advisable to branch out beyond the neighborhood? (We live right next to mission trails as well so im not sure how deep i should go there) In the signs I posted, I stupidly forgot to inform people of the possibility that my cat might be in their backyard/porch so it's possible that he could be in someone's house but Im sure someone would've found him by now if that was the case. Just not sure what to do anymore.

Cats may return on their own. Put items with your scent outside- you’re dirty sheets or unwashed, clothing. Place these items and fur combed from cat tree or cat bedding and place these items over a humane trap or in a trail to the front door. Place your kitty's bed, cat tree & litter box outside. Indoor cats that get out are usually no further than 3 houses away. Watch video which shows his they hide. Ask neighbors if you can look for your cat on their property such as garages, sheds, or backyards . Don’t forget to look and search any trees in a 1 to 2 block radius to see if your cat can be up there. This happened to a cat owner and she was looking all over and finally found her cat stuck in a tree. Sometimes cats will try to come back inside very late when it's dark and quiet when they feel it's safe to come out. Cats generally stay close by, so look under bushes, cars, up trees.. Most indoor cats go into survival mode and hide. Most will not respond when in "survival mode." Call your cat's name softly, listen for a meow, and look for eyes with a flashlight. They still may not come out if they hear your voice softly since they are hiding and scared. Best time is the middle of the night/ super early morning. Ask your neighbors to check their garages. File a lost pet report with the Humane Society. Check daily online for found stray cats photos on the San Diego Humane Society's website. - [ ] Post on sites: - [ ] Next door - [ ] Pawboost - [ ] Lost & Found Pets of San Diego, CA - [ ] Santee, CA Todays News and Information - [ ] lostmykitty.com You can try to contact Babs fry, she is a recovery specialist who did donate her time for free in the search for lost pets: 619-249-2221. Or cat expert Debby at 619-760-613-9514. She’s an expert at helping find lost cats. (Not 100% sure If she still helps) Post lots of large flyers with big writing in many places. Ask your neighbors to check their Ring app which you know shows videos of what people’s cameras have seen. Put a “Lost Cat” sign on your property. Ask your neighbors. Hope you find your kitty soon. 😻 The unwashed clothing seems to really get them home. Another cat was found underneath a nearby car. Hope these tips work for you. HOW TO FIND YOUR LOST CAT - “Indoor only" cats never wander far from their home. When they get out, they go into survival mode and hide in SILENCE. Despite all attempts, they will NOT respond to you. Cats that get out will typically become afraid. When afraid, they will seek safe haven under a deck/house, an opened garage (keep your garage door opened a crack) or in a bush. Sadly they will not meow when called as meowing would give up their location to a predator. This behavior has nothing to do with whether the cat loves you, whether it recognized your voice, or whether it can smell you...it has everything to do with the fact that a frightened cat will hide in silence. You have the highest chance of finding your cat by conducting an aggressive, physical search of your yard and your neighbor’s yards. Late at night and EARLY in the morning (2 - 4 am) is the best time to find a missing "indoor only" cat. Don't give up! It can take WEEKS to find a missing "indoor only" cat. Use a flashlight late at night and look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of his eyes. While some cats may return within a few hours or days, others may take up to 10-12 days before they break their cover. Once their hunger and thirst gets to a maximum, they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they then come out of hiding and are at risk of predators. If possible, leave the door or window open from which they escaped. Make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Most people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's very important that you continue to look for him EVERY night, as late as possible. Research shows that he’s close by. Don't give up! Interestingly...The new evidence is to NOT leave the litter box out as it can attract aggressive cats or other predators which can displace the cat further from its home. Cat litter attracts predators. In fact, some coyote trappers use cat litter as bait. Ever wonder why cats bury their waste? They don't want to advertise their presence to predators! A litter box placed or sprinkled around the home may put your cat at risk of being ed by a predator before you can get him back in the house. There is no single trick to recovering a lost “indoor only” cat, but there are methods that are highly effective. Use ALL of them! Praying your kitty returns soon or is found safely. 🙏🙏🙏🐾❤️🐈 even if your kitty is an outdoor cat a lot of these tips would still help.
