Suzy Creamcheese I worry most about coyotes. Outdoors is not safe for cats in SC. I know someone who lost 3 cats to a coyote that her neighbor saw in the middle of day. People think they only hunt at night, but they are a 24/7 threat to cats.

When a group of cats disappears all at once, coyotes are a big worry. In general kittens should not be outside. Very few survive. I know someone who had 13 barn kittens all killed by predators. We rescued the last litter (placed in safe indoor homes) and got the feral mama spayed. In cases where the mama cat was friendly, she should be indoors-only as well, but I know for feral cats, sometime a barn is the only option.

Lauren Walters Smith female cats can go into heat as young as 3.5 months of age, and also as soon as two weeks after giving birth. Each heat cycle exponentially increases their chances of getting pyometra (deadly and expensive to treat) and mammary cancer (also deadly and expensive to treat). I hope they aren't all in heat and looking for boyfriends. 😞

Suzy Creamcheese none are fixed. Yes they are my barn cats. One kitten was there when I got there yesterday. The rest just vanished.
