Do not chase your animal if lost. They take on a fight or flight response for survival. Even calling their name can be traumatizing. I learned this too personally when Titan got out a door that was ajar. If your cat is missing, please DO NOT PUT THE LITTER BOX OUTSIDE. That can attract other strays that will mark their territory and he may not want to come home. It's really not safe to be outside, especially at night with predators. They are usually scared and not far away from home. Check with neighbors, in garages, crawl spaces, sheds etc. to make sure they are not trapped. Make postings and put in neighborhood. You can post to Paw Boost app for others to see. I had my cat Titan get out. I saw him but he wouldn’t come to me. After 2 1/ 2 weeks I saw him and knew he wanted to come in, but he wouldn't come. I told him I would go in the house and leave him a way in the door. I propped the door open to his space and he ran in. Just leave an easy access for them to return inside.

Please go walking through the neighborhood calling your kitty’s name and shaking his/her bag of food or bag of treats and use a laser toy to lure your kitty out to chase the laser pointer. Use a flashlight at night. Look under cars, by bushes and any other place where he/she can be hiding. If possible leave your garage and lanai door partially open. Your cat will try to get back inside, especially during time when it is dark outside. The only way to find the way home again is by smell. Use some of your used clothes, put them outside along with his/her bed and litter box but ***ONLY*** if you are keeping an eye on the litter box because it can attract predators. Go in person to the local shelter to check if your cat is there. Call your cat’s microchip company to report him/her missing. Post on Facebook Lost and Found Pets groups of your area. Check on Petco LoveLost website. There are many lost and found cats on that website. Post on Neighbors by Ring App. Its free and you don’t have to have a Ring Doorbell to get the app. There are Apple and Android versions of the app 🙏🏼 Post also on Nextdoor app Prayers for your baby’s safe return 🥺🙏🏽

I am so sorry about your Kitty being lost. Put the Owner's worn clothes outside all around the house or where the kitty was lost. Kitties don't go far, but they do hide a lot. When it is quiet and darker, go out and shake her food bowl and treat bag and hopefully she will hear it and come out. Take a flashlight out at night. Kitty’s eyes will reflect and make the kitty easier to see. Talk quietly to her like you would if she was inside - yelling can scare them, though this is what we want to do because we want them HOME!! Knock on doors. Someone may have taken your Kitty in so she/he doesn't get hurt. Also ck with your Neighbors and ck their storage areas, sheds, etc. I know of a Kitty who was found in a storage room that had only been open for 5 mins. Put out flyers everywhere - stores, intersections, etc., and put the info on your car windows so that it gets the info out to more people. Use multiple actions to find your Pet...using only one may limit your success in getting your Kitty Home. Look inside over and over. Shake treats. Open food cans if you use canned food. - Any sound that the Kitty may come to. They are very good at hiding so she may have never left the house. Check with delivery people (mail, Amazon, Fed Ex, UPS, etc.) to see if they have seen your Pet. I'll be Praying for the Kitty to be found soon! Also, open the door he escaped from and leave open as long as possible. He will try to come back in that same way. This link has some really helpful info as well: https://www.facebook.com/MissingAnimalResponse/ Do be careful of scammers. Some people call or text and say they have your Pet just to get money. Pitiful!!
