Most cats stay fairly close to home when they get out so chances are high your cat is on your property or somewhere on your block, most likely three or four houses away. Search at night with a flashlight because the eyes will glow. Cats sometimes get stuck up in trees and can't get down so check there. Also check inside and under places he might be stuck or hiding such as sheds, barns, garages, crawl spaces, decks. Talk to your neighbors, put up missing cat posters up to a half a mile away, post on all local social media, and make sure to check with animal control weekly. Some people have had luck by putting something with the cat's smell, or the scent of home, out on the porch. Sometimes people also have luck finding their cat by walking around at dawn carrying an open can of tuna or smelly canned cat food.

Sorry your beautiful kitty is missing. Is he microchipped? Is he indoor-only? Is he wearing a collar with identifying information? Be sure to post on all local lost pet sites. If he is indoor-only be sure to include the info. Check the found cat posts also. Put flyers up in your neighborhood--not everyone checks social media. Let local vets and shelters know. Make sure he is not trapped in the house somewhere. From my experience, when indoor cats get outside, they usually do not go far. Look VERY nearby: in trees, in bushes, under cars, under porches, under decks, and in your neighbor's yards. Ask your neighbors to be on the lookout for him and to check their crawlspaces, garages, and sheds. Cats sometimes get trapped there. Shake his treats or call him like you do when you feed him. Place your clothing outside so he can follow the scent. Know that he is probably scared and may not respond to your voice or you calling his name. They go into survival mode. When our indoor cat got out, we had walked by him several times while calling his name and he stayed hidden in the bushes. So really look. Bring an open container of tuna when you are looking. Use a flashlight when looking for him to catch his eye reflections. I am praying that he gets home immediately.
