Description

Black German shepherd, white and brown paws, white hairs around mouth and eyes, looks to be about 7-9 years old, probably close to 100lbs, very well tempered, army green collar with no contact information.

Message from Finder

He came up to us at a friend's hse but they weren't able to keep him there because they have 3 territorial dogs so we brought him home, he's chipped but the owners haven't been reached yet, if he was dumped and the owner no longer wants him we'd be happy to keep him but we'd love to know his name, but we'd love to get this guy home to the people who have obviously loved him.

Vivian MirAnn I did, he's currently at the shelter, I explained to the animal control officer what happened and because he drew blood he'll be in quarantine but because the bite was considered provoked he won't be put down. I completely understand where the biting was coming from he was definitely scared and I didn't blame him or anything for it but I knew we weren't equipped to handle such a large reactive dog so I did what I thought was best for us and him by surrendering him to the shelter.

Carissa Morgan I think it might be best if you took him over to either animal humane, or contacted one of the German Shepherd rescues that would be far more well-equipped to handle a reactive dog. Not excusing the biting, but he's probably traumatized from getting away from his home, and being in a new and confusing environment. I think you've done a great job looking out for him, but it might be better for your family and peace of mind to turn him over to a facility that can continue his care.

Ruth Archambeau we really were hoping to keep him but with a 2 year old in the house we couldn't risk it

Ruth Archambeau I don't think he was beat but he definitely wasn't showed a lot of love I think he's just really scared and not used to being loved, I showed him a lot of love and I think he got really attached to me because of it and didn't want my bf near me. I did have to give him to the shelter but they said because it was a provoked bite that he won't be put down, hopefully his owner comes forward soon or gets adopted, he'd be a really great guard dog for a single woman.

Sounds like the owners are not taking care of their pets. I hope he doesn’t bite anyone again. Do you think he was abused? I pray not.

I think he might have been a guard dog for another woman or farm animals

UPDATE: Owner needs to be found ASAP he has bitten my boyfriend twice now any time he gets close to me or our daughter. I think he's grown to really like me and wants to protect me but I have a 2 year old and I can't have him here if he is going to be attacking anyone. I really don't want to take him to the shelter but he's being overprotective.

He really is a sweetheart, and he was so scared last night when we brought him home but I took him today to see if he was chipped and he is they just haven't been able to get ahold of the owners yet. They did say that the same owners had another German shepherd that was picked up and taken to the shelter last night so they're missing 2 dogs, I have one and the East side shelter has the other
