Message from Finder

This dog was standing in the middle of the street confused. He wouldn’t move. He had an oversized nylon, brownish green torn up collar that was too tight. No ID tags. If you want it back it’s by the road where I took it off. It appears he was chained by the neck and lived his life in the dirt as a bait dog or something. He can barely walk. Clearly, no food or water for a long time. I doubt you want him back. My daughter said I should do this. It’s against my better judgment to give this poor guy back to people who seem to have neglected him. If he’s yours and you care, call or text me we can discuss his future.

1. Report to shelter within 24 hours of finding, sooner the better 2. 72 hours required hold time until yours permanently or rehome allowed 3. Check for a chip (could have been stolen and used for abuse then dumped) 4. Require all proof of ownership from anyone trying to claim (vet papers, old photos as pup etc)

Ask for proof of ownership.. Don’t want it to fall in wrong hands.

If this dog is abused, and it seems so by your description, there is no way I would give the dog back!! This would be the only showing I would have for this dog!! You say you will keep him, I would too, it sounds like you are a bit mad, I WOULD BE TOO!!! Just don't give him to the pound, pounds have moved up their days of euthanasia!! I can't say for sure, but I'll bet this dog would be on that list after 3 days!! I have 4 dogs, and I love every one of them, I have had 4 dogs since 2016, and 3 prior to that time, I love dogs and it shows you do too!! Bless you for giving that dog a chance at the remaining life he has!!! 💓💓

Francis P Keeney Francis, please don't turn this pup over to ANYONE claiming, please. I know how expensive it is to add another (I just took in 2 from a family who lost their home and am up to 7 dogs, 8 cats, 2 potbellies). I'd take him in a minute if I had space. IF you find you simply cannot keep him yourself, PLEASE bring him to the Guilford shelter. It would be better than allowing anyone to continue neglecting or abusing this sweet life. Thank you SO much for what you're doing! I can give you dog food if you need 🥹💖

As much as I want her to keep him, I think the law in Guilford County is that you have to give a dog back if owner shows up. Otherwise its a teft. I think the rule is that only after 5 days of trying to find the owners, the dog becomes the property of the person that found it. If the owner sees this post and wants it back, the finder will get in trouble by not returning the dog.

Forgot to mention he is not fixed. I will take care of it, if I end up keeping him. I can get him to a vet. But he is available to a new, loving and caring home.

Jackie Payne Yow I don’t want to! I’d like to keep him but I already have two dogs. If no one takes him i will keep him. He would make a great cuddle buddy or support dog. He needs time to rest and heal up. As well as get used to having attention like a normal dog! (He might be getting slightly spoiled over here 😇)
