I found him yesterday he had been hit by a truck on the road but he only suffered minor injuries and I just want to get him back to his home.

File a found dog report with Chesapeake Animal Services and Chesapeake Animal Control. They can scan for a microchip and post on stray hold for owner to reclaim. Not everyone sees Facebook posts and may go to the shelter to look for the lost pet.
