Description

Gus is safe at home! Thank you to everyone who helped in the search! A great big THANK YOU goes out to John Woodruff from Aeronautical Drone Services for finding him. John is amazing!! I highly recommend him for anyone who has lost their pet. Gus is a 2 y/o Russian Blue Mix - He has a gray coat and no distinguishing marks. Though he has Russian Blue characteristics, he is much smaller and weighs 10 1/2 lbs. He is friendly - loves people, other animals and is super food-motivated. He is an indoor cat so the surrounding area will be foreign to him. He has never gotten out before. 5/24: Gus' microchip was not registered by the rescue and I just updated it this morning.

Message from Finder

Please help us bring Gus home. 💔 I rescued Gus last year, and from the moment he came into my life, he has been pure joy. He just wants to follow you around, curls up beside you whenever he can, and greets everyone like a friend. He is only 2 years old — still a baby to me — and he has never been outside on his own. I cannot stop thinking about him in the rain, scared and hiding somewhere. If you live nearby, please, please take a few extra minutes to check around your property — under decks and porches, inside sheds or garages, behind bushes, under patio furniture, in window wells, anywhere a frightened cat might squeeze into for shelter. Typically he has a soft voice, so you may not hear him. He is so deeply loved and missed. My heart is breaking.

UPDATE 5/25: GUS SITING....Gus was located by drone in a tree right near my house on Sunday. using Aeronautical Drone Services (WC). John was amazing! However, during rescue with help from firemen, he got very scared, broke free and ran into the brush. We know he is still in the back yard area between Windsor and Nottingham Drives. Please do not chase. If you have a humane trap, I am kindly asking to please put it out. Thank you everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers. We are hoping once the rain stops that he will find his way home.

Oh Li - I'm so broken :( Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I have a drone operator who uses thermal searches coming possibly tomorrow 🙏 Because of the Memorial holiday in the US, no one is available immediately.

Thank you all for your suggestions which I have done all of them. Since its been raining for the past 2 days, if he is hiding he most likely wont come out until this rain stops which is tomorrow. Can I please ask anyone who lives on Windsor, Nottingham, Airport and Boot Roads to please check your surrounding property - bushes, sheds, patios, decks (any nook and cranny you think a small cat could get into). Thank you again for your time, kindness and considerate messages.

Thank you, Nayak. I am doing all the things recommended. I am hoping that since its been raining for past 48 hours and into tomorrow, he might be hunkered down. I have to think this because otherwise I will probably break :(

try leaving the exit point open a little tonight at dark. Secure any other pets in another room if necessary. Keep lights off & house quiet. If you have a video doorbell or motion activated camera, use it to alert you if there’s motion. Do not go outside once you leave the door open at dark. Very often they will wait until it’s dark & then they return to exactly where they got out & they’ll try to get back in. Put some of your dirty laundry outside the exit point for scent. Do not put the litter box outside as it will attract other male cats who will prevent your cat from returning. If you can’t leave the exit point open after dark, you’ll need to set a humane trap there at dark & monitor it by camera or from an inside window. Do not go outside once you set the trap so your cat feels comfortable approaching. The chances of your cat approaching a stranger, approaching you, or being seen during daylight hours is very low. Your cat is in survival mode if it’s indoor only.
