Shared. Post Dede on Nextdoor and file a lost report with the shelter right away. Keep checking with the shelter for any updates. It's helpful to go in, and check if Dede has been found and taken there. Post flyers in your area, and talk to neighbors. Someone might know something. If they have security cameras, ask them to check the video for any clues. Ask if they will check their garages and back yards, she could've wandered in and be trapped in there. Arrange to be there when they search, and take her carrier with you. It will keep her safe and calm when you find her, until you get home. Remember to put her favorite blanket inside. During the search, have your neighbors check under decks, porches, inside and under storage sheds. Also check the crawl space under the home (if any), check all bushes and trees. Check the roof, and any loose vents there. Dede could've pried one loose, crawled into the space behind it and be trapped in there. Walk around the neighborhood; check bushes and trees along the sidewalk. Check under parked vehicles, any recessed areas (like storm drains) and nearby structures. Take a flashlight to help you search poorly lit areas, even in daylight. Also take a bag of her favorite treats, or an open can of cat food or tuna and a spoon. Shake the bag or tap the can while you walk around and call out to her. Keep your voice calm, she might stay quiet and hidden if she senses stress in your voice. Try searching for her right before dark, or right before dawn. Some cats feel more secure coming out of hiding at those times. If that doesn't work, try different times of the day. Good luck 💕
