Most cats stay fairly close to home when they get out so chances are high your cat is on your property or somewhere on your block, most likely three or four houses away. Search at night with a flashlight because the eyes will glow. Cats sometimes get stuck up in trees and can't get down so check there. Also check inside and under places he might be stuck or hiding such as sheds, barns, garages, crawl spaces, decks. Talk to your neighbors, put up missing cat posters up to a half a mile away, post on all local social media, and make sure to check with animal control weekly. Some people have had luck by putting something with the cat's smell, or the scent of home, out on the porch. Sometimes people also have luck finding their cat by walking around at dawn carrying an open can of tuna or smelly canned cat food.

They are usually close, like less than a mile. Put out favorite pungent smelling food, go out really late at night a few times shake a treat/catnip bag calling, run a can opener (if it knows that sound) always check at night they are nocturnal, or early mornings. Put out the litter box at your discretion, as it might attract other unwanted animals. It's cat tree/blanket, or pillow/cat bed, anything with familiar scent. Check your, and the neighbor's, bushes, in trees, under/behind things, they can hide in really small obscure spaces. People on here have found them in a gopher hole, in/under a deck, in outdoor patio furniture, tree lines behind the house, etc. My neighbor left their garage door cracked open or a window, and their daughter's kitty came back in at night. Sometimes, someone nearby takes them in and starts feeding them like they are stray, so it may not come home right away. Post Flyers / on Nextdoor / All the Facebook Grps for your area & Ring Doorbell if you can. Get in front of more people. ♡
