PART 2 HUMANELY TRAPPING ‘SIGHTED’ SHY CAT CLICK —-> TRAPPING / LURING YOUR CAT(how to) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SwaCTR1QrhlWg6mhq8roXmJHb6nauLCHB6v38UYCPRM/edit?tab=t.0 💖🐱 If kitty is skittish then consider humanely trapping kitty in order to get kitty scanned for a microchip and then consider fostering in a bathroom or playpen until guardian or furever home is found. I recently trapped a black cat with no tail on a busy street who was LOST FOR OVER 1 YEAR!!! I had no idea until I trapped kitty and scanned kitty for a microchip and luckily the contact info was recent!! - someone had posted on nextdoor about this cat, asking if anyone knew this cat. I didn’t want to wait due to a storm approaching and set up the trap next to my car and watched out the window…kitty came right after dark after 4 hours of waiting - I used stinky tuna based wet food as bait in the back of the trap and treats at the entry of the trap to get kitty interested in entering the trap. I placed a towel under the trap to stabilize it and put a piece of cut up yoga mat inside so kitty would not step on metal and that way I could put a few treats inside the trap too. WATCH THE VIDEOS BELOW - changed the way I trap! 💖🐱RENT/BORROW A HUMANE TRAP - Ask Nextdoor ‘cat owner’ group or other pet groups if someone can loan your a humane trap to lure kitty with stinky wet fish based food. You can rent from your local SPCA/animal shelter though it can take a few days to access so sometimes reaching out to cat groups on nextdoor and facebook will be faster. If you live in San Francisco I am happy to loan you one of my traps. Traps WORK well to lure scared cats out of hiding before Dawn or after sunset. 💖🐱I use a baby monitor → https://a.co/d/bcuK17m as part of the STAKEOUT to monitor the trap door opening non-stop livestream (or you can add your wifi camera to your iPad or mini-ipad and use the pad as your live stream monitor OR SIMPLY watch LIVE FEED from your wifi camera (mini blink works great!). When you set the trap, you place stinky fish based wet cat food as bait at the far back center of the trap BEHIND the ‘trip plate’. I would suggest getting the help with someone experienced. OR watch the training videos below. It’s crucial for you cat’s safety. You must monitor the trap at a close distance and/or watch the baby monitor live feed without distractions. 💖🐱NEVER never never never leave an active trap unattended/unmonitored for even 10 seconds. You can cause injury or death to a cat who is trapped and left inside for predators to attack. If you come across any stray cats coming to the food, please find out if kitty belongs to someone else by posting online ‘IS THIS YOUR CAT’ on facebook, nextdoor etc and take the cat to determine if micro-chipped. There are so many lost kitties and you would hope someone would do this for your kitty. 💥💥BEFORE TRAPPING: MUST-WATCH HOW-TO VIDEOS 1. Trapper Tips and Tricks! I started putting out wet food bowl when a neighbor spotted a cat on her RING camera at 3AM... I started putting wet food bowl 1/2 way inside an UN-SET TRAP to get kitty used to eating from inside the trap without any bad happening. I clamped the trap door open using zip ties so the door could NOT shut. I saw on camera that kitty went in after first being a bit hesitant. By night 3 she came early 530pm right after dark (they tend to come earlier once a consistent food source is found) The next night was time to TRAP. I SET the trap and put the food bowl all the way to the back of the trap (small bowl on night of trapping) and she was trapped within an hour! I scanned her for a microchip but she does not have one. I flyered every door (using painter's tape) and posted on every lamppost nearby. I had her FIXED, chipped and vaccinated at 9 lives in Redwood city - discounted rates! I kept her in the bathroom for a few weeks then moved her to a bedroom. I found an amazing human to adopt her! The best feeling ever! —----- SPAY AND NEUTER: If kitty isn't fixed …. the biggest gift you could give is to get kitty fixed❤️ 🙏 to prevent endless kittens being born outside to suffer and struggle and to prevent him from getting into horrible territorial fights that are often lethal . Thank you for being part of the solution..so many need our help...we do our best one kitty at a time. ❤️ damia LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER: OAKLAND --> https://icraeastbay.org/resources/local-resources/spayneuter/ San Francisco —> https://www.sfspca.org/veterinary-care/spay-neuter-clinic/ SF SPCA Community cat’s program —--> https://www.sfspca.org/about/impact-results/community-cats/ To request an appointment, please text (415) 554-3084. 9 lives Redwood City —> https://ninelivesfoundation.org/low-cost-services/ San Mateo → https://phs-spca.org/spayneuter/ https://www.smchealth.org/spayneuter-voucher-program

🐱💜Dear kind compassionate neighbor. I ADORE people like you who look out for the often ignored lost/stray roaming kitty. Thank you for helping to save this kitty’s life! Kitty is most likely very hungry & dehydrated. ((Cats that haven’t eaten for days and barely eaten for weeks will still ‘APPEAR’ OK - fur is very deceiving and it takes a long time for cats to look ill.)) May I kindly suggest providing water and Wet food. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.🐱💜We are often a cat’s last hope after another human failed them. 🐱 Lost cats REMAIN very near their last residence …Unfortunately many kitty guardians give up WAY TOO SOON on the search assuming kitty is never coming back or deceased (not realizing how close they remain and/or sometimes they're trapped in a garage etc) Kitty could belong to an elderly person who lives alone and doesn't use the internet or know how to find kitty (or can't physically get around well). Or kitty's guardian could have or was hospitalized. And sadly, MANY cats are born in backyards due to guardians who aren’t fixing their own cats that they allow outside. AND MANY sweet cats get ABANDONED (yes happens all the time)….and they need our help 🙏 🐱 MOST (if not all) of the neighbors that live on your block - will NOT see any of these posts on pawboost, nextdoor or facebook. So Informing your neighbors in person is KEY. The neighbors around your block and across the street are exactly who need to be informed via FLYERS and/or knocking on doors and asking. THE BEST THING TO DO To find out if kitty has a guardian: Get kitty into your bathroom where it's safe and contained and Knock on your neighbors doors..someone might know where kitty lives .. Food bowl water bowl, litter box and blanket or ideally a covered carrier can be used as a little hideaway for kitty - or even a cardboard box turned to it’s side and partially covered and blanket/towel inside :) 🐱💜 SCAN KITTY FOR MICROCHIP: Try winning kitty’s trust with food and pets and gently Get kitty safely inside a SECURE cat carrier and get kitty scanned for a microchip at any vet (Free) or shelter (Free) hopefully kitty has a microchip with guardian’s up to date contact information. TIP: Always Cover the cat carrier with a blanket once kitty is inside and during travel it will help calm them. 📌 HOW TO GET A CAT INSIDE A CARRIER (Butt-first) 🐱https://youtu.be/-jLUsGsejRk (I made this video to show you how) Place hard open carrier behind the kitty and give kitty treats or food in front of kitty ,gently pull kitty’s shoulders and body BACK toward the opening…very gently! Kitty will pause then walk backwards into the carrier! 👏🏼 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5eJVen9SC9Zm7D3LCr-CZlsmAnl0_cL/view?usp=sharing SEE IMAGE BELOW …. If no microchip (or unable to get kitty into carrier) please bring kitty inside (where it is safe from coyotes into a bathroom or bedroom or closet or inside an extra large playpen: https://a.co/d/7EUE4E2 ) and print FLYERS… 🐱💜PRINT “FOUND- IS THIS YOUR CAT” FLYERS (Download Template/s below) Post up Flyers around your block on both sides of every lamppost - and distribute flyers door to door around the block and across the street to all your neighbors . KNOCK ON DOORS and ask if anyone knows where this sweet kitty lives... leave a note or FLYER or MINI-FLYER if not home ( use that blue painters tape to adhere directly to front doors or mailboxes so they are noticed. (don’t place mini flyers inside mailboxes they will get lost) You want to cover ALL possibilities. Spreading the word IN PERSON and online/ 💜💜💜 💜💜💜 Of 4 cats I helped recently , 2 were microchipped (chip company reached out to the guardian while I kept the cat in my bathroom and 1 cat was NOT chipped so I printed mini flyers and full page flyers. I used painters tape to tape MINI flyers to every resident’s front door around the entire block (kitty was in the backyard) and posted up flyers on lampposts and within 24 hours the guardian called! Not all cats have this happy ending but gosh it's the best feeling to help reunited a kitty with their guardian - thank you for helping ‘found’ cats get home. And if kitty is homeless, prayfully you might foster the cat until you can find a loving home… When they ‘show up’ in our lives it usually means they need help. I recently took home a cat seen in a neighbor’s backyard - she noticed a limp but thought kitty was fine. I cared for ‘Rain’ for 3 nights - he was in such bad shape but it wasn’t obvious from just looking at kitty going to the food bowl - he had been hurt by a human and had face trauma and brain damage…I was able to get him to the vet and have him assessed and get him strong pain and kept him warm and well fed in my bathroom - where it’s safe even for a sick cat with parasites ( administered to any and all parasites like fleas) He passed away on the 3rd morning. He had been ignored outside in people’s backyards for weeks..I’m so blessed to have been able to care for him for those 3 nights - he knew he was being LOVED for the first time in a long time …he did not die alone and I made sure he was medicated so he didn’t feel pain. 💜💜💜 💜💜💜
