Stay put so your dog can come back following your scent. “Let the dog come back to you.” When you must go home, take a dirty sock, t-shirt, or underwear that has been close to your skin and place them outside of your home. This is another scent lure. Set up a “meat trap” using odorous meats. This is done based on investigative work. For example, after a neighbor saw your dog running up a hill, the meat and water would be placed at the foot of the hill. Broadcast that your dog is missing using social media, posters, and word of mouth. Ask people to report sightings rather than attempt to retrieve your dog. She will be frightened and run away again. Use sighting reports to use scent based lures like clothing or food. Leave doors open so that your dog has a way to get inside when they return home. Do Not: Leave the scene and start searching for your dog. You are spreading your scent and making it more difficult for your dog to come back to you. Close up your house so your dog has no way of coming inside when they return. Chase your dog or yell their name. This will only drive them further

Sarah Harris is this the general area in case we can find someone to come out and help take the dog for now? Also. Please at least give him some water… It’s so humid out. Sarah Harris is there a Facebook page for your neighborhood or is your community on NEXTDOOR? Or, do you have friends or relatives on your “personal” Facebook page who live in the area and you could post on your page to see would post it there as well because maybe someone can at least keep this dog until the owner has been found? …..

Please take to a vet to get scanned for a microchip (they do it for free)! Also please post on Indylostpetalert, Pawboost, Ring Neighbors app, & Facebook & put up signs in your area. Please ask for proof of ownership! If you get a text saying it is their pet & they ask you to verify with a link, it is a scam!! Sadly so many scammers! Please don’t open the link!! Thanks for keeping this fur baby safe!❤️ If this was your dog, wouldn’t you want someone to keep it safe so they don’t get hit by a car or something?

Please put in in the garage and call animal control. Please don’t give this guy to anyone there is a large dog fighting right in the area plan for multiple forms of I’d thank you ❤️
