He would have found a 'home' by now surely? If not he'd be going from along fence lines looking for food. Good luck

If your cat Billy is microchipped, it is essential that you check that your current contact details are up to date because the microchip database company HomeSafeID, which was removed from WA’s dog & cat regulations as of 23 July 2025. Here is an extract from Consumer Protection’s website: ‘Earlier this year, the company ceased responding to customers and subsequently closed its operations. Affected pet owners are encouraged to act immediately to register their pets with a new microchip registry service to ensure the ranger and vet have access to their information if needed. Review the certificate you received when your pet was first registered, as this will display the microchip registration number and which database they are registered in. If you're unsure - search petaddress.com.auusing the microchip number to check which database they are registered in. If you're unable to find the certificate - visit your local vet, who will be able to scan your animal and provide you with the microchip number and advise you of the database holding those details. If the pet is registered with HomeSafe ID or Pet Electronic Tags (P.E.T.S) Pty Ltd, the microchip will need to be registered again with a new registration service. Here’s the link to the alert details on the Consumer Protection (WA’s) website for more information: https://www.consumerprotection.wa.gov.au/pets Other tips to try to find your lost cat: Contact your council’s Ranger Services: this is the most important first step, as your council's pound or ranger service will keep a record of impounded animals. Preferably visit them regularly in person to check if your cat is impounded there. Remember to leave your cat’s description & your contact details with them & ask if you can email a photo of your cat to them. Ask them how many days they hold impounded animals for as many don’t keep them there for very long, usually only several days. Also check with surrounding local governments pounds in case your pet is found in other areas. Contact the Cat Haven, RSPCA, & other cat shelters too - preferably visit regularly in person as well as phone to see if your cat is with them. Also check with local vets. The best method in recovering a missing cat is conducting a physical search of the area. Your cat may still be close by. Call out your cat’s name. Look in your street as well as nearby streets & areas. The best time to search for a missing cat is late at night or at around 3:00AMand have a torch handy to help search for him or her. Shake a box of their favourite treats or biscuits when searching for him or her, or take a hot cooked chicken with you. Keep calling your cat, leaving enough time for them to hear you & hopefully be led home. Knock on your neighbours doors (during the day) & ask them if they’ve seen your cat & ask them to keep an eye out for him or her. I also found some other information on the internet which may help you: It’s usually not a good idea to place your cat’s litter tray outside. While it seems like a good idea to use their scent to attract them back, it can actually do more harm than good by attracting other animals and potentially making your cat feel unsafe in their territory. Instead, focus on using familiar, comforting items with your cat's scent, like bedding or clothing, to help them find their way back. Place items with your cat's scent, like their bed, favorite blanket, or a piece of your clothing, outside. Food and water: Leave out food and water in a safe, sheltered spot. Safe hiding place: If possible, create a small, sheltered space where your cat can feel safe and secure. Print out posters with a photo(s) of your missing cat & description with your contact telephone details & put them in neighbours letter boxes. You could install a video recorder that is motion activated which will send notifications to your mobile at the exit point where you have placed food & water for your cat.
