A few tips to help find the family: Make sure the dog is in a safe, enclosed place where it can't wander. Post a few FOUND DOG signs near where you first saw the dog. (Cardboard and magic marker works in a pinch though neon-colored poster board catches more eyes. I've found signs to work quicker than anything else when posted ASAP because most people go out looking for their pets.) Ask any caller to describe the dog they're missing. Your closest vet will check for a microchip, free of charge. Notify your local shelter, telling them you have the dog, in case the owners are looking for their dog there. Send them pictures if you can. Leave a detailed message if no answer. Ask for pictures or vet records (some kind of proof of ownership) before turning the dog over to anyone. Don't forget to check your other messages often. Not everyone will or can comment on this post. Thanks for keeping it safe in the meantime.Read More
