The collar left the way it was is suspicious. Please ask neighbors if anyone else is missing a pet. Also , perhaps someone has a Ring type camera that may have captured someone walking around on that night. Keep your hope. May he be found soon

Please post flyers in your neighborhood, for at least a 3-block radius, and walk the neighborhood in early morning and after dark; talk to your neighbors and any workers in the neighborhood, let everyone know he’s missing. Be relentless. Keep up the in-person shelter search as often they don’t post all intakes online/phone calls might yield inaccurate information... Post on PawBoost, CL, NextDoor, etc. Make sure chip info is updated. Most importantly, keep talking to him in your head, tell him he is so missed and you’re looking for him and please come home. Visualize your reunion constantly and put out positive energy 😊 I hope this all helps, it has worked for me in a seemingly impossible situation ❤️

LOST CAT OPEN DOOR Scatter the contents of your hoover bag around the outside boundary of your home - they can scent their way home from miles away, using the familiar smell of your home. If putting out clothing make sure that it hasn’t been washed so that it smells of “you”. Going out late at night/ early morning when it is quieter and less noise distraction around will make it easier for you to hear each other’s calls. If you are calling for him make sure you do this as you walk towards your home not away from it so that if he follows the direction of your voice you’re leading him home, not further away. Also ask any neighbours to check their sheds/ outbuildings in case he’s been inquisitive and got trapped inside somewhere. If he is an indoor cat he is likely scared and hiding somewhere very close by - look under/behind any items/objects that he may be seeking shelter from - under bushes, behind bins etc. when searching at night take a torch - the light from its beam will reflect in his eyes and you will be able to spot him even if he doesn’t respond to your calls. Put up posters in all surrounding streets and inform the microchip company that he is missing.Put out water, and some of YOUR dirty clothes (dirty socks are nice and stinky)/blankets (dry in dryer first to enhance smell). Depending on the weather, you might want to put out a plastic tub with straw for shelter. Go out every morning and evening walking (folks seem successful around 10:30 p.m., but don't go alone) with food/treats in bowl rattling it, calling your cats name. Cats are often hiding within a 5-house radius. Do NOT give up. There was a cat a week or so ago, they went out every night for 5 nights, finally on the 5th night, they heard it's meow, it was trapped in a neighbor's shed. Another was hiding in a tree from the neighbor's dogs. Check buildings, bushes, trees, and storm drains around your house. Also in the house/garage, keep all doors/closets OPEN in case it's hiding in the house. If you can, leave door cracked open from which cat would most likely sneak back in during the night. If desperate, sprinkle your urine near the cracked door as stronger scent guidance. Worked for us!

Thanks everyone. He’s snuck out before but came back the next morning which is why we put an AirTag on him. We have done. All of the suggestions as they worked last time. This post was a long shot. We have been thinking that someone took him. We live in an area with a lot of coyotes but there was no sign of a wild animal on our lawn next to his collar. The collar was left in the mild of the lawn with nothing around. We think someone may have taken him and took the collar off. He is a very sweet boy. I’m hoping this is not the case but I know if he was able, he would come home. Thanks everyone.
