Indoor cats are most likely to hide nearby. Search your property and ask permission to search nearby properties. Look inside any out buildings, under sheds and decks and in bushes and up trees. Use a flashlight to look for eye shine. Don't yell but speak calmly and lovingly like you normally would. Leave clothing you have worn or the cat's bedding outside as a scent trail. Never leave out the litter box as it attracts predators. If safe to do so, leave open the door or window the cat escaped through. Also a good idea to very throughly search inside your home - in closets and basements, check for openings into the walls and even crevices inside couches and recliners. Cats can get trapped in weird places or may hide if they don't feel well.

Greatly appreciate everyone’s help and best wishes. Henry is a typical Ragdoll he follows people around greets visitors at the door and loves to sit on our front step in the evening but always comes inside at night, always. He never leaves the yard and is overly friendly and not afraid of dogs or really anything that is our concern about an animal attack possibility. Praying that is not the case but he definitely didn’t just wonder off. Appreciate everyone’s help keeping an eye and ear open (in case you hear a meow) hug your kitties for me tonight

Put your clothes outside as a scent. Have neighbors check cellars sheds garages and vehicles. They get trapped. Look under porches and sheds etc. Have a Heart trap with tuna. Cover trap with blanket and watch trap. Look at night often with flashlight. Check attics drawers and in trees 🌲. Culverts. Flyers everywhere. Check town authorities and vets. Look at lost and found pet sites shelters in case brought in. Craigslist too. Get kids you know to help look. Check behind walls and insulation. Abandoned buildings. Leave the door open for cat or window.
