Lost cats are usually not far from home. They get scared and hide. They may even be on your property but won’t come out because they’re scared. Depending on how scared they are, they don’t even come out to eat, sometimes for days. This is especially true for indoor cats that get out. When you call them, call softly, because if you call loudly or urgently, they will hear the anxiety in your voice and be even more frightened. Let all your neighbors know she/he is missing, so they can look in their crawl spaces, under decks, and in out buildings. Ask them if you can check those places. Put up flyers so people farther away will be on the lookout. People who see cats in their yard don’t think they’re lost because so many people have outside cats that wander. Go out late at night, walk slowly and quietly call her/his name. Many times they won’t come to you (because they’re freaked out) but will follow you home. This last suggestion is how I found my cat that was missing for 5 weeks & was 2 blocks away the whole time. Good luck!
