Description

He is a Brown/Caramel colored Tabby “Tiger” cat. A little white around his mouth. Longer hair on stomach with spots that resemble cheetah print. He had a long slender build, he might look a bit skinny now because it’s been 6 days. Friendly but can be skiddish because he’s been outdoors for multiple days, he is a mostly indoor cat but sometimes is gets out the back door or windows but he ALWAYS comes home & knows his way inside 24/7. He rips his collar off every chance he gets so he wasn’t wearing it when he got out. Answers to Lito & Carlito. Also will come to the sound of shaking a box of dry food & calling his name.

Carlito/Lito's Owner Says

Thank you for everyone who commented & reached out to me! After almost 9 nights & 8 days he’s home! I got a message from someone who might have caught him on their ring camera, I spoke with her today & her feeding station is a 13 minute walk from my hse, which isn’t TOO far for a cat. Around 9-9:30pm I made my way to that area & spent about an hour walking the whole neighborhood calling for him & shaking his food, when he’s out for too long he ALWAYS comes or answers with a meow when I call for him. However, I didn’t have any luck, I saw a couple other cats & I noticed one cat was sort of following me but he would dart across the street & disappear into backyards, I never got a good look at that cat because it was dark & couldn’t catch it with my flashlight. I assumed it wasn’t him because he didn’t come to me or meow to me. I decided to call it a night & basically cried all the way home. But the whole way home I kept calling for him & I left a small handful of dry cat food every 40 feet or so. I got home & broke down. Then a little over an hour later I got a call from my downstairs neighbor, as she was taking her dog for a walk she noticed a cat that looked like mine eating the piles of food coming down our street. She called me & said she thinks it’s my cat & it was now eating the pile on the steps but it darted under our bushes when she got close. I ran down, squatted & looked under the bush, said his name & he came darting out & jumped on my shoulder & started meowing like crazy & I just plopped on the ground held him & bawled my eyes out 🥹 😭 Idk but I think he may have found his way back home because I left a trail & maybe he heard me calling him earlier. Either way I’m so happy my babes home! THANK YOU for all the prayers & to the people who’ve reached out to me! Most of all THANK YOU to the AMAZING people who care enough to have feeding stations in the neighborhood for all the local kitties! I noticed he came home with a full belly, so yall are the real MVPs! 🐾 Lito is now home, & sound asleep in bed right next to me 🤎

Humane trap and camera are key, plus leaving a door slightly ajar at night for reentry

Most likely your cat is near by. These are steps you should follow.....1) Sprinkle lots of cat nip near the door he got out from and your yard.2) Leave an unlaundered Tshirt or article of clothing(someone mentioned socks) near the door. 3) Go outside and call him frequently or when possible....especially at night when there is less traffic noise. 4) Pass out flyers with his picture and your phone number on it, put in peoples mailbox's and talk to as many neighbors as possible (this is how I got my cat back, years ago). 5) go out in the evening around your neighborhood....look closely under bushes, porch steps etc.... using a FLASH LIGHT. Cats eyes will shine like reflectors when the light is used. 6) Put real TUNAFISH outside near your door. 7)Please do not put the litter box outside. It will attract predators like coyotes.8)Don't give up!
