IF YOUR CAT GETS OUT 🐾 — READ THIS AS SOON AS YOU CAN! Cats usually hide close to home and stay silent when scared. 1) Scent + food near home * Put your worn clothing outside * Leave strong-smelling food (tuna, sardines, chicken) * Light scent trail (like chicken broth) toward your door * Leave a door/window open at night with food nearby 2) Search at night (2–5 AM is key) * Go out when it’s quiet and dark * Shake treats, call softly * Check bushes, sheds, porches, garages with a flashlight (look for eye shine) 3) Posters + alerts ASAP * Put flyers everywhere (neighbors, poles, stores, mail/UPS drivers) * Call shelters, animal control, vets—but also visit shelters in person 4) Know how cats behave * They often stay within 1–4 blocks * They hide silently for days or longer * Don’t assume they’re gone just because you don’t hear them 5) Extra help * Ask neighbors to check sheds/garages * Use humane traps with smelly food if needed * Check feral cat groups/FB pages * If microchipped, update contact info * Be aware of outdoor risks (like coyotes) Most cats are found close by—especially between 2–5 AM. I hope you find your kitty, real soon!

Search Community Cat Coalition and Missing Pet Partnership for tips. Post on all lost pet sites, NextDoor and your community's Facebook page. Some people have stayed outside all night and their cats have come home in the early AM when they felt safer to come out from hiding. A drone search and pet search/rescue service will help. Best wishes!

Go out after dark with a flashlight. Keep calling her. Shake a treat bag and/or something smelly like Sardines. Good luck!
