💖💖He's going to hide from EVERYONE...though food /hunger always wins...leave wet food just inside the escape door with lights off tonight..leave bedding 10 feet further in. He will NOT go far his instinct was to bolt out the open door or he got scared who knows..get a camera aimed at the food so you know if he comes to eat and leaves again when you[re sleeping...try to spend time by the open door gently calling for him while you sit on the ground calmly calmly..wet food righ tnext to you...you never know if he comes out of hiding tonight or 5 nights from now... if he continues to hide YET shows up on camera to eat then you know you have to trap him or continue to try to lure him inside pushing the food bowl further inside... 🐱💜 INDOOR ONLY cats and LIMITED OUTSIDE ACCESS cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases near the escape point. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, (and that’s the side kitty got out) place the items just inside the garage door left cracked open 5” - just enough for kitty to get in. Also place wet food by the slightly open garage door and get a $35 MINI BLINK camera (the black one on amazon https://a.co/5NUJG5G) aimed so you can receive phone notifications of any movement, DO NOT leave the litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are NOT as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take days. weeks or even months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes, under porches, in crawl spaces. Try to look for the glow of the cat’s eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 150 feet of your home. Survival mode usually lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. Make flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Knock on doors / talk to neighbors ask them to check Ring cameras. It's VERY VERY important that you look for kitty as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated WIFI cameras are extremely helpful in spotting scared cats that come out to eat when no one is around. A lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only and limited access to outside cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can kill a cat in a trap. In a recent case, while using a baby monitor to monitor the trap from inside the home, the guardian’s cat came to the front door at 5 AM and she was heard on the baby monitor. 🐱💜RENT/BORROW A HUMANE TRAP - Ask Nextdoor ‘cat owner’ group or other pet groups if someone can loan your a humane trap to lure kitty with stinky wet fish based food. You can rent from your local SPCA/animal shelter though it can take a few days to access so sometimes reaching out to cat groups on nextdoor and facebook will be faster. If you live in San Francisco I am happy to loan you one of my traps. Traps WORK well to lure scared cats out of hiding before Dawn or after sunset. 🐱💜I use a baby monitor to monitor the trap → https://a.co/d/ikleXw0 as part of your STAKEOUT where you place stinky wet cat food as bait at the far back center of the trap BEHIND the ‘trip plate’. watch all 3 of these videos below. They are excellent. You must monitor from very close by and/or watching the baby monitor live feed without distractions. 🐱💜Never leave an active trap unattended/unmonitored for even 15 seconds. You don’t want to trap another cat or worse, a raccoon. If you come across any stray cats coming to the food, please find out if kitty belongs to someone else by posting online ‘IS THIS YOUR CAT’ on facebook, nextdoor etc and take the cat to determine if micro-chipped. There are so many lost kitties and you would hope someone would do this for your kitty. 🐱💜BEFORE TRAPPING: MUST-WATCH HOW-TO VIDEOS 1. Trapper Tips and Tricks! 💜🙏 Dear guardian. I'm so sorry your sweet kitty is missing. Your indoor/outdoor kitty could be stuck at a neighbors unable to get back (OR GOT spooked by someone or something hiding) and why you must take action in several ways in order to cover ALL possibilities - ESPECIALLY in person – with the neighbors on your block to start. 🐱 Taking ACTION IN PERSON is CRITICAL: https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ 🐱 Leave a WAY BACK INSIDE for kitty to sneak inside in case kitty is now stuck in a garage and they get released… 🐱 💥 IMPORTANT 💥 Search and CALL for kitty sweetly and calmly during the day and ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT from Sunset until SUNRISE (when it’s quiet, dark and cats feel ‘safer’ to move out of hiding) Set your alarm for 11pm 1AM, 3AM, 5AM....go out and call for kitty in your NORMAL, CALM voice...shake/crinkle the treat bag or shake kitty’s favorite noisy toy. I can’t tell you how many kitties come out of hiding during these late hours…(or you can hear meows if trapped in your next door neighbors garage or backyard for example).it’s best to sit down in 1 spot for at least 10 minutes at a time and CALL CALMLY ..be patient…scared cats are the best hiders. 🐱ASK NEIGHBORS to check their RING CAMERA and to add a missing cat alert ! 🐱 GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR NEIGHBORS YARDS: Get permission for YOU to check their yards physically day and evening...explain to them how kitty will hide from strangers and it's best for you to check anywhere kitty could be hiding (they are excellent silent hiders) Sometimes you have to check more than ONCE in the same yards...see text example received...https://drive.google.com/.../10I.../view... 🐱 Neighbors will often see a cat outside and will NOT do anything UNLESS they know your cat is missing and have your number! 🐱 PRINT 150 FLYERS ASAP to give your neighbors and post up around your block and neighborhood. KNOCK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS DOORS starting with your block. POST UP FLYERS on both sides of streetlamps in clear sheet protectors with the opening facing down so the weather doesn’t ruin them. Google “protective sheet covers” - you can purchase these on amazon or any office supply. To save time place ONLINE order of FLYERS at your nearest FEDEX PRINT STORE for pick up. Even if they’re closed, call once open , and ask if they can PRINT right away due to the urgency. If you’re nice, fedex staff will always print FLYERS quickly. NOTE: They also sell those clear sheet protectors to along with packing tape for posting Flyers on lampposts and blue painters tape (for adhering flyers onto front doors and mailboxes without any damage) 🐱Download a Flyer ‘template’ from www HappyCatLady com, which offers a reward for a PHOTO of your kitty to encourage neighbors to search for kitty and to call you if they spot kitty instead of approaching (and potentially) spooking kitty. 🐱 NOTE: MANY people are not on Facebook or Nextdoor.com (or don’t get notifications) so you MUST go door to door in person, circle your block and across the street to start - make sure every neighbor knows about kitty . Ask neighbors to take a photo and call you if they see kitty and NOT to approach. ASK neighbors to check their yards / garages /sheds ..roofs, crawl spaces. Kitty could be stuck / trapped (this happens all the time!) and talking to your neighbors will help engage them into helping. 🐱 PRINT OUT A GOOGLE MAP OF YOUR BLOCK with address #s showing so you can take notes on who you’ve talked to and which houses to try again later if no one answers ..keep trying..you want to talk to every residence around your block and across the street to start…the map print out helps you keep track as it's easy to get mixed up when you're stressing out.....(see example further below). The goal is to TALK to as many neighbors IN PERSON as possible https://drive.google.com/.../1ZDSAf2ky52.../view… 🐱 APARTMENT BUILDINGS: For distributing flyers ...I always ring on bells and talk to folks and/or at least get inside so I can leave a flyer In front of each door step or if not an option then tape flyers onto the top and bottom of EACH mail box to ensure everyone around your block is aware along with posting UP FLYERS around the block and 1 block out in all directions (use the clear sheet protector so they LAST more than a few days! You want to cover all possibilities. Spreading the word IN PERSON and online is Critical in spotting kitty. Ask neighbors in person and on flyers to take a photo if they think they see your kitty instead of approaching her and to call/text you. Talking to neighbors dramatically increases the chances of your cat being spotted or discovered stuck..it engages people to care and to actively search MAILBOXES EXAMPLE _ FLYERING https://drive.google.com/.../1pQTHFCYD.../view… 💥 IMPORTANT 💥 PLACE A CAMERA (motion activated with night vision) AIMED at WET food and water you leave by the open escape door or just inside the garage door left open 5” (if kitty got out from the front and you have a garage) you can't believe how many times a cat will return home - eat - but has no way of getting back inside OR kitty just WILL NOT go back inside because kitty is scared and in survival mode. WHen you observe kitty on camera coming to the food BUT continuing to HIDE FROM YOU, THEN YOU SHOUDL REND OR BORROW A HUMANE TRAP to lure kitty with food when no one is around...you may see other cats, raccoons and other creatures eat the food. Just replace the WET food AM and sunset (raccoons LOVE dry cat food so use only WET) 💥WiFI Camera: Mini Blink camera $35: https://a.co/ihc7BSy 💥WIldlife camera (WIFI NOT NEEDED) 8 AA batteries: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B099F54JJ4... 🐱 DON’T GIVE UP🙏 Every day I get texts from cat guardians saying they found their cat stuck in a shed, under a neighbor’s garage, on a roof, inside a storage space etc…or that a neighbor heard a meow in their yard at night. Each cat is different and needs our patience and getting the eyes and ears of your neighbors is IMPORTANT. Return to those addresses if no one was home when you knocked. Keep track on a map which neighbors weren’t home to return to - kitty COULD have gotten locked into their garage, storage or shed before leaving town so talking to every single nearby nearby is critical.. Sometimes you have to check the same spot 3 times!! ONLINE: 🐱 Post on www.Nextdoor com under ‘lost & found’ and ‘cat owners’ group with exact address OR address range. EXAMPLE 1000-1050 kitty street, nearest cross street is Paw Ave NEXTDOOR INVITE: https://nextdoor.com/invite/tlpjrfjfsfzzypgctspp INVITE LINK TO NEXTDOOR ‘CAT OWNERS GROUP: https://nextdoor.com/g/qazvu50sq/ 🐱Report to Animal Care & control - your local animal shelter/s + Check for FOUND cats online daily and IN PERSON WEEKY 💜🐱Make sure kitty's microchip is registered and up to date 🐱 Cover ALL possibilities … All your effort and love works together to find your sweet kitty Keep taking action every day/night. Sending you Love and unwavering determination. damia foti 650-339-6619 ( www.happycatlady.com) 🐯 SEE BELOW example of taking notes on map as I went door to door. F = flyered (not home) Added names I spoke to in person - the goal is to talk to everyone to best engage neighbors - ask them to search garage, storage, sheds and to CALL if think they see kitty (and take a photo) Keeping track on a map is a HUGE HELP - I often return days later to remind folks to keep looking!

🔻WARNING🔻New Scam Alert🔻 SCAMMERS will text you saying they’re affiliated with Pawboost and that they HAVE YOUR CAT and that YOU need to PROVE who you are by giving other phone numbers, your email, verifying google codes etc . These are all SCAMMERS - they may tell you to meet them somewhere BUT THEY WON'T Send you a PHOTO of your cat (they'll make up any excuse) Tell them you know they are scammers and to stop! Please Trust that If a neighbor sees or has your cat they will give you info freely and not play any strange ‘prove you are the owner of kitty’ games… Here are 2 recent SCAM texts I received -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fXZaisdpT9AAnYg38Sr4WILds0ewC5KU/view?usp=sharing 🐱💜 INDOOR ONLY cats and LIMITED OUTSIDE ACCESS cats never go far.
