Very small black cat with orange eyes and a small white spot on her chest.

Message from Owner

Please help me find my baby girl. She is a very small, very skiddish 10 month old black cat. She slipped out the window sometime yesterday and I haven’t been able to find her since. I just want to know she’s ok.

Put some of your worn clothes in a box with some food and place it near/where she slipped out.

Sophie Swift / because of the big increase in creative and intelligent scammers it is recommended that you only say a reward is offered, but not the amount. ⸻ 🐾 1. Start Close to Home Most indoor cats are found within 3–5 houses of where they escaped. • Check under decks, porches, sheds, bushes, crawl spaces • Use a flashlight at night — look for glowing eyes • Call softly — don’t shout (a scared cat often stays silent) Search during: • 🌅 Dawn • 🌙 Late evening / night Cats move more when it’s quiet. ⸻ 🏠 2. Create a “Safe Scent Station” (Not a Litter Box) Instead of the litter box, put out: • Your worn T-shirt or pillowcase (strong familiar scent) • Their favorite blanket • A small amount of food (only during monitored times) • Water Place near your door or where they escaped. Bring food inside overnight to avoid wildlife. ⸻ 📣 3. Notify & Alert Contact: • Humane Society of Boulder Valley • Foothills Animal Shelter • Dumb Friends League Even if you’re not near those exact locations, your local shelter should be notified immediately. Also: • Post on Nextdoor (very effective in Colorado neighborhoods) • PawBoost • Local Facebook lost pet groups ⸻ 🪤 4. Consider a Humane Trap If your cat is skittish or won’t come when called: • Borrow a humane trap from a shelter • Bait with strong-smelling food (sardines, tuna) • Check frequently Many cats are recovered this way after days or even weeks. ⸻ 🔦 5. Don’t Assume They’ve Gone Far Indoor cats in particular: • Hide silently • Freeze when scared • May not respond to your voice Sometimes they wait until 2–4 AM to move. ⸻ ⚠️ What NOT To Do • ❌ Don’t leave litter box outside • ❌ Don’t leave large amounts of food overnight • ❌ Don’t chase if spotted (sit low and speak softly) • ❌ Don’t give up too soon Cats have been found weeks later very close to home.

Post signs and hand out flyers. Talk to people as someone saw something. Big hugs. Your kitty wants to come home too.

She is very skittish but will usually respond to videos of cats meowing.

I am Babs’ owner, and I would be extremely grateful for any information anyone has about her. If you’ve seen a black cat yesterday or today anywhere in Boulder, especially the Baseline/Wellman Creek neighborhoods please reach out. My phone number is (469) 439-4003. Thank you! 🥺❤️
