Message from Owner

Just adopted Reba and Boris mid November. Boris is in ICU with FIP. In the midst of rushing him to ER, Reba slipped out and vanished. She’s such a sweet, loving lady and will reach out her paw to you. Boris is bonded to her and having her will help his recovery. Reba is savvy and intelligent. She’s been through a lot in her short life and knows how to survive but will definitely seek out people.

Put a box of your dirty clothes and linens outside your door, hopefully the scent will guide her home. Do not use the litter box, it attracts other predators like coyotes.

Try a live trap, they are fairly cheap, my Jane wanted to come back but was too overwhelmed and scared, she had made a home under a backyard shed across the street. Eventually she was found eating hamburger in the trap on my front porch and all was right again. Tuna in oil also makes a lot of scent. If its cold out, wrap the trap in a blanket and make sure to check it often. I believe in Jane's case, the live trap was her only chance. Best of luck and a swift resolve for you I hope

If at all possible, I would recommend leaving the door she slipped through cracked open 24/7. We did this a few years ago when our (new to us) cat bolted out of our back door when it unexpectedly blew open. It was in the 20s at the time, but it was worth it to leave the door cracked, because he came back into the house on his own in the middle of the night the second night he was out. We also put his bedding and some of our dirty laundry (with scents that are familiar to him) near the door along with some of his used cat litter (I know this part gets mixed reviews, but I wanted to try everything). I set out smelly wet food late at night. I also placed fliers all over a two-square-block area. It is stressful when they are out, but she's probably close by and hiding, and they can hide really well. Use a flashlight at dusk and before dawn to see if her eyes shine back at you from crawl spaces, bushes, and other areas where he may hide and seek warmth. Don't give up. I hope she will be back with you very soon.
