Message from Owner

We have lost our sweet Olive. She is a strictly indoor cat who snuck out when we opened the front door on October 26. She loves to play with her toys and her sisters. She loves milk. If you see her calmly approach because she is quite skittish. We love her so much and want her to come !

Standard suggestions (change the pronouns as necessary): Indoor cats don't typically go far - put her litterbox out (some people disagree with this) and anything with her scent on it, and be sure to continue putting food/water out for her. If you have a trail camera (or can borrow one), set it up. Leave your garage or screened in porch open in case she shows up in the middle of the night. Ask any neighbors with Ring doorbells or security cameras to check their footage since she disappeared. Be sure to file a missing report with the shelter - go there in person and check every couple of days as the shelters are all currently short staffed and don't have time to match intakes with lost reports. Notify area vets, and if you have an HOA, ask them to send a blast to residents. If any of your neighbors have had crawlspaces, garages, or sheds open or any construction, make sure she hasn't gotten closed up somewhere. Go out after dark with a flashlight calling for her and shaking her favorite container of treats. Post flyers in the neighborhood and go door-to-door, talking to your neighbors and handing out flyers. Give flyers to area delivery personnel such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc. Ask kids in the area to keep a look out for her. Post her on Nextdoor, Pawboost and on Lost and Found Pets Hampton Roads Facebook page as well as any Lost and Found Pets and any 411 Facebook pages specific to your locality. If she's microchipped, be sure to notify the registry - and make certain your contact information with the registry is current - so many microchipped animals cannot be returned to their families because their contact information is out of date or the microchip was never actually registered.

Call softly late night early morning when it quite out .. For indoor cats make sure they are not hiding somewhere in the house .. check the bat .. the dryer or washer ..under or in a cabinet in a closet behind .. under or in a couch or in or behind the frig. dishwasher ..stove drawer .. under the bed ..dresser drawers .. attic any where he may have been shut up in ... if they got out if there is any way you could leave your door garage door or window slightly ajar if possible they know where they got out .. cats will hide during the day and are more active late evening near dark to early morning , daybreak ... have a spot light to shine to see eyes in the dark .. they are usually close by and will often come back to the door .. or hide under bushes or decks to feel safe ! Also check crawl spaces under houses , garages, sheds of neighbors nearby ... check culvert pipes .. storm drains .. up trees .. and under car hoods with colder weather and tires also ...this can happen and they could be miles from home . Cats in a new home need at least 30 days to adjust to a new area and may and will travel to get back to their old home .. A set trap may be needed and monitored at all times! Trail cam help to monitor the areas! Post to Nextdoor ... Check with area Shelters, Animal Control, and Vets offices also put flyers ... Am sure you have tried most all of these! Don't give up!!
