Thank you ALL for your helpful comments. He IS chipped. I called the vet to see if any way to track off those. Unfortunately no. We are still searching around the farm where he roams. Fearful someone may have picked him up but his collar DID have original ph number in brass plate and they know he’s missing so they will contact us if they get a call. We’ve had him since April and he ALWAYS came back after baying raccoons.

Put up posters w/ph.no./email 1 to 10 mile radius, call his name normally as you go, put the posters near the roadway and businesses so people will see them, ask anyone you see if they have seen him!! He could be trying to get back to his owner that passed!! Email All VETS a poster w/ph.no./email, is he microchipped and registered?? Call all shelters to see if he is there, email them a poster w/ph.no./email!! GO to several pounds to see if he is there, leave a poster w/ph.no./email even if they are closed!! CALL them every day to see if he is there, go to several pounds to see the persons in charge, leave a poster w/ph.no./email with them, look around the pounds to see if he is there!! Check Pawboost, Pawboost Community, Next Door, X, & 24petconnect periodically, you can also put him online with Next Door, X, & 24petconnect because some people don't come online FB!! There are LOST AND FOUNDS RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC online and some that have just the person's name!! I do hope you find him, don't stop looking!! Search the woods if any are near too, he could be there!! In case you may need one, get References for a GOOD Pet Tracker, do not get the References or Tracker on FB!! Come online here to make sure this post is online every day until the dog is found!! I believe I saw a post several days ago that had a dog like this one, but I don't know who it was that had it like Pawboost, Pawboost Community, LOST AND FOUND RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC!!

Lost dog: If not found yet, Use the scent tracking ability. Especially if the dog is in unfamiliar territory, or sight/hearing/mentally impaired, put an unlaundered piece of clothing from its favorite person on the ground where the dog was lost. They will sniff their way to that piece of clothing. Try hanging up outside, a couple items of owners (unwashed, dirty) clothing for the scent to lead him/her back home..Hang them up (high) so the wind can pass through them and carry the scent...Dogs rely on picking up their owners scent to find their way back home...If he's possibly lost in any nearby woods, cut up several pieces of fabric from owners,(dirty) clothing and lay the fabric pieces in the woods down very low on tree trunks near the ground and leave them there, creating a (scent trail) to lead him/her out of the woods...Buy some KFC chicken, original recipe and tear it off of the bone and leave in the woods with some fresh water on a trail with owners dirty clothing pieces...Dogs can smell KFC chicken from 2 miles away and pet trackers often suggest using it to get a dog out of the woods...Go to the water sources in the woods and spray (liquid smoke) on trees and on the ground through the woods back to owners yard...Dogs lost in the woods must find a water source to survive...Sometimes large breeds such as a great Pyrenees will hang out around farms where there's water and farmers throw food out on the ground...Try firing up an outdoor grill and cooking bacon, chicken on it slowly 15 to 20 minutes at a time every 2 to 3 hours apart...Lost hungry dogs often follow the smell of grill smoke filling the air and travel home...Set up feeding stations with food and water in the woods until s/he's back home...Put up flyers on your street, surrounding streets and intersections and check with neighbors and animal shelter daily... 🙏🏼 Please ask that people DO NOT try to chase, follow, or call out to your dog if spotted. Whenever possible, it’s best if people report sightings and direction of travel to owner immediately, and don’t post specific sighting locations publicly. It’s important for a lost dog to remain in the same area so it can be safely brought home, and unfortunately many well meaning people scare these dogs away and owners must start the search over. Even stopping a car nearby or closing a car door can be enough to accidentally scare the dog off. Dogs that are scared/lost often won’t recognize their owners when in that mindset and may not act at all like they do at home- even a super friendly and social dog might be in fear/survival mode and run away from even the people they know. Avoid calling out or whistling to the dog – they will likely run away if they are in fear mode and it makes it even harder to safely contain them. As soon as possible, the owners/guardians should place some items like unwashed laundry that smell strongly of their owners (clothes, socks, sheets) in the area last seen. Dogs in particular who get lost from an unfamiliar location almost always circle back to the place they got lost from, often at dusk or dawn when it’s quiet. Check the clothing/laundry spots at dusk and dawn, sometimes dogs are found laying on these items. Place the items in a place away from the road so the dog doesn’t move toward traffic. Keep in mind, the dogs won’t be using their noses when they are scared, and may not smell treats or recognize the scent or voice of their owners right away. For those who the dog knows - if you are close, don’t move toward the dog. It’s best to sit or lay down and pretend to eat something delicious (smack lips, “mmmm yum yum”), loud crinkly chip or food bags help. Avoid eye contact, stay facing sideways, and avoid making movements toward them (if needed walk in general direction in an arch). If they move toward you, ignore them and then drop some food/treats! If you reach for them too soon, they may run off again. Be cautious offering a large reward for a scared dog on the run – it can hurt the dog’s chances of being safely recovered (people are more likely to call out and chase/follow the dog for a reward, which can cause the dog to run farther away or continue hiding). Eye-catching, clear flyers with the dog’s photo, your phone number in big font, and phrases like “scared- do not whistle at or chase” and “contact owner with sightings immediately” can help prevent even well-meaning people from scaring the dog more (and accidentally setting the dog running blindly into the road/traffic).

Put out some dirty clothes or blankets you have outside. Any sweaters or clothes they have had on. If you can grill out bacon that’s supposed to help. Post on all the lost and found pages. PawBoost and Nextdoor are good. You can also post on ring. Might be worth it to look into a tracker. I hope your baby comes home today!!
