Most likely nearby. Don’t give up. I used a tracking service (even though I notice this post doesn’t recommend). I set up a feeding station and cameras in the area the tracking dog identified he was. Once I saw my cat on the camera, I set up a trap. It took awhile and persistence but I finally got him back. Good luck to you. It’s a rough time when your fur baby is missing.

Put articles of clothing and shoes on the porch Spread some used litter around the house and yard area Look for her late at night and early in the morning when it is dark and quiet Use a flashlight to see her eyes Probably close by and hiding Keep calling kitty kitty calls and meow sounds Don't give up
