MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Our much loved 16 yr old cat was taken by a stranger (witnessed by our neighbor) from our yard in Newport News, va on October 7. We got him from the SPCA 16 yrs ago & he is a loved member of our family. If you can help us bring him home we'd be so grateful! He is microchipped and very friendly but he must be very scared and confused as we are the only family he's ever known!

So sorry to hear someone took your cat from your yard! Please put up posters in/around your neighborhood with a good pic & phone #. Check shelters every day in person.

Cats dont roam like dogs do. They are usually in a 5 to 7 house radius. But they go into a protective mode which is why they do not answer you. To scared. So the goal is to lure them out. Check with your neighbors and ask them to check their garages and sheds. If they will allow you to search their yards that's great. Search under and in everything. Place his litterbox and some smelly wet food such as tuna fish outside. If you have a garage leave door cracked and place food and water inside. Late at night walk and call him shake a bag of treats or something that hes familiar with. A toy perhaps. Fliers are crucial post them all over! Homes, poles. Use pic if possible. File a missing report with your shelter and then check back every couple of days and always in person. Hope your babys home soon.
