Please create a post on Facebook on the bulletin boards there. I will attach links to each of the Facebook groups. Is Ellie spayed and microchipped? Please put up flyers in the area, put out her food, litter box and a piece of clothing or blanket with a familiar scent on it. Check in yards, under decks and under cars, check at night when it’s quiet outside. They tend to come out more at night. Also reach out to ARL, MSPCA and animal control in case someone turns her in. Also can you please give me your name and contact info in case I see her! I live on E 6th Street so if she happens to wander she could head towards my area. Most likely your cat is near by. These are steps you should follow.....1) Sprinkle lots of cat nip near the door he got out from and your yard.2) Leave an unlaundered Tshirt or article of clothing(someone mentioned socks) near the door. 3) Go outside and call him frequently or when possible....especially at night when there is less traffic noise. 4) Pass out flyers with his picture and your phone number on it, put in peoples mailbox's and talk to as many neighbors as possible (this is how I got my cat back, years ago). 5) go out in the evening around your neighborhood....look closely under bushes, porch steps etc.... using a FLASH LIGHT. Cats eyes will shine like reflectors when the light is used. 6) Put real TUNAFISH outside near your door. 7)Please do not put the litter box outside. It will attract predators like coyotes.8)Don't give up!

Drag scent trails… Your cat may be hiding under a porch, a shed, or a car, behind bushes, or in a wooded area. Go out late at night with a flashlight that might reflect against the cat’s eyes, and call out to your cat gently. Or shake a bag of treats, sometimes better than your voice to attract a cat that’s scared. Create scent trails on the grass and ground leading up to your home (or to a trap, ideally monitored with a trail cam, so you can respond quickly when the cat is in the trap). Get a towel and rub it with your dirty laundry, blankets, socks, or anything else with the scent of home. (Do not use kitty litter.) Tie a rope to the towel and drag it from the areas where you think the cat might be, creating scent trails leading to your house (or the trap). You won’t smell the scent on the towel or the ground, but the cat will. (If you use a trap, load it with a little cat food, chicken or tuna, enough to attract the cat from the trail that leads up to it. Rely on the scent trails to get your cat to the trap.) Rain and snow will wash away the scent trails, so you’ll have to drag again afterwards. Also, renew the trails every couple days. Try to remain patient and hopeful. Some cats only show up after many days or even weeks. Important: . Never leave a trap unattended, always keep an eye on it, checking it every 1/2 hour in person or with a trail cam. Position the trap close to where the cat escaped or was last seen. . Trail cam photos and videos are marked with time stamps, helpful to know if and when the cat shows up but doesn’t go into the trap. . Post flyers in the area with a picture of your cat and your contact information. . Even if you don’t have a trap or a trail cam, scent trails leading to your home can work.
