Message from Owner

Please help find our sweet 8 year old kitty. She is my 3 year olds best friend and she is missing her dearly. Cheryl is shy but very sweet. Very likely will be scared so please don’t chase. She is micro chipped and has an AirTag but it doesn’t seem to be sending the correct location. She is a smaller female cat and has a distinctive marking on her nose and has a pink velvet collar with a black heart tag. If you see her please, please let us know as our little girlie is missing her snuggle buddy.

If you find Cheryl safe please build her a nice safe catio. Catios are wonderful - and cat tunnels are too.

Most importantly go out and start looking & calling right away. Make up posters as soon as possible and hand them to neighbors. Take them to as many Veterinary clinics as possible & Animal Rescues too. Ask family and friends to help make posters and search. I hope you find your beautiful sweet kitty soon. I hope you find your kitty safe and soon. Please consider building a nice safe catio so your kitty can enjoy the outdoors safely.

You may have to borrow a live trap from an animal rescue. I think The MEOW Foundation lends them out. They can also be bought from Canadian Tire or stores like that. Place the trap in a safe area where you can see it all the time and put some warmed canned tuna inside. Canned tuna can be smelled for a long way - it should bring hungry kitties running. Never leave it set up over night. During winter it is very important to watch it so no kitties freeze. If you catch a kitty please take it to a 24 hour Veterinary clinic and they can check it for a micro chip or tattoo. Hopefully they can find it's family soon. Any kitties you can catch will be much safer at a Veterinary clinic or The Humane Society. They will be safe - warm - fed and not have to worry about coyotes - bobcats or cars. The less kitties alone and starving on the streets - the better.

Go out and take her favorite treats and call. Ask your neighbors to check their garages - sheds - under stairs - decks and bushes. She's probably hiding somewhere close and feeling scared and confused. Ask your neighbors to check more than once - cats are very good at hiding. Check at night late when it's quiet as that's when she may feel safer to come out. Put out some of your worn clothes. The scent will help her find home. Go out at night when it's quiet and take her favorite treats. Call her softly and listen for soft meows back - especially near garages and sheds she may have become trapped inside. Take a flashlight and look under bushes and other hiding places for reflective cat eyes. Ask your family and friends to help you make posters and put them up all over your neighborhood - especially near stores and your community center. Call Veterinary clinics and animal shelters in case someone brought her in or called about spotting her. Post on YYC site too - they have a very large following. Don't give up - keep looking especially at night. I hope you find her soon. I'm sharing. Please post in YYC group too. They have a very large following. The more people looking for your kitty the better.

Also consider putting up a few motion sensor cameras. They might help you spot him at night. Ask neighbors if they have motion sensor cameras and if the cameras spotted him - which direction he went? But going door to door is how we found our tiny poodle years ago. A neighbor had taken him in about 4 blocks away. So keep looking.

Go out at nite with a flashlight and their fav food, goodies or salmon and tuna. Look in bushes, under cars, etc. if u have a garage leave the door open a bit with his food or even a window. Make up posters and spread them around the area. Motion lights are helpful. Check the city, all rescue organizations and vets in your area every day.

If you haven’t already, go door to door in your community to ask your neighbours. There is a good chance that the cat is hiding in someone's yard. We found our cat once 7 houses’ away, he had been hiding under their deck and they took him in.

PLEASE READ. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. IF I HAD KNOWN THESE TIPS I WOULD HAVE MY FUR BABY BACK NOW! Go out looking for kitty. Start searching immediately. Don’t wait for him/her to come home on their own. Kitty is likely close by, may be scared and hiding. Take a can of tuna or smelly cat food with you or kitty’s favourite treats. Look under neighbours decks or steps but don’t give up. So many dangers out there such as coyotes, owls and not so nice humans. Kitty is counting on you. And...this is so IMPORTANT ....!!! If you don’t find kitty today, go out late tonight when it’s quiet and calm around midnight or later and sit on your front steps or back steps and talk out loud softly and say his/her name over and over like you are reading a story book. Be patient it may take some time and more than one night but if kitty is close s/he will hear your voice and come out of hiding. This has worked for me a couple of times. Also leave a window or garage door open so they can get back in when they come back. Good luck. Hope your fur baby makes it home soon. Don’t give up. Also, AirTags do not keep kitty safe. Cats that are allowed to roam, it’s only a matter of time before they don’t come home.
