Message from Owner

Wally has disappeared. He is neutered and microchipped. He is not an adventurous cat and has never left our yard. He doesn’t see well and isn’t the smartest guy. But he’s sweet and we love him. If you’ve seen him or have him, please let us know. We are worried sick about him!

Lost cats are usually not far from home. They are scared and go into survival mode and hide and won’t even come out for their owner. Sometimes they don’t come out for days, even to eat (especially indoor only cats). Look in the garage, outbuildings, crawl space, under deck, and anywhere that they might be accidentally locked in. Let your neighbors know he/she is missing and ask to check their spaces too. Most people don’t necessarily think a cat they see is lost, because so many people have outdoor cats that wander. Put up posters at intersections in the area. Don’t put the litter box outside, as it will attract predators and other cats. Go out late at night, when everything is quiet, and call softly for your cat. If you call loudly or urgently, they will hear the anxiety in your voice and will be even more frightened. Walk slowly and call softly. They may not come to you, but they might follow you home. The last suggestion is how I found my cat that was missing for 5 weeks. Also, if your cat eats wet food, take a can with you and open it outside. The sounds carries quite a distance and might lure them out of hiding. Don’t give up. Good luck!
