Message from Owner

My cat, Dustin (he doesn't really know his name yet, I've only had him a couple weeks) just got loose and I lost sight of him at the corner of Edinburgh and Braemar, behind the new hses there. He is dark gray, young, with slightly chubby build. He should have a blue harness and leash on him. No collar. I took him outside for a minute and when bringing him back in, he panicked when I tried to pick him up, his collar got caught on my finger and broke away, including his tags and gps tracker, and he bolted. I chased him from my hse on Edinburgh north, across Benton, to where I lost him in the backyard of the first hse on the south side of Braemar. He is chipped and has a clipped ear. The chip isn't registered to me, I have the number though, I guess I'll try to get that transferred? I'm not too sure how that works. Please contact me if seen. Thank you.

Thomas Keys IV I will...if i can get close enough. As a cat owner myself I understand the fear they must have for his safe return.

Sue Scimeca hi Sue. This is my pawboost post and I'm the owner and person you spoke to earlier. Thank you so much for your consideration. If I recall you've seen the cat in question before Dustin went missing, so I doubt it's him, but if you can snap a pic next time you see him/her or somehow make contact, please let me know. Thank you!

You might try a live trap, they are fairly cheap, my Jane wanted to come back but was too overwhelmed and scared, she had made a home under a backyard shed across the street. Eventually she was found eating hamburger in the trap on my front porch and all was right again. It took about 3 weeks for her to show up and i did have to release squirrels and possums along the way which were easy. Tuna in oil also makes a lot of scent. Make sure there's water too. If its cold out, wrap the trap in a blanket and make sure to check it often, check it often no matter what the weather is. In fact, best to keep a camera on it. I believe in Jane's case, the live trap was her only chance. Best of luck and a swift resolve for you I hope

❗ Call the microchip company ASAP, they will send out an alert. ❗️Post flyers everywhere, including local shelters, vets, and police stations. Make sure to call all of them to see if anyone has turned the cat in. ❗️Post on the Citizen App ASAP, it will reach thousands of people in your area in a matter of minutes. ❗️Ask neighbors if they have cameras or ring doorbells, and if they can look at them to see if he passed by. ❗️Buy or rent a trap from a rescue, vet, police station, friend, or neighbor. ❗️Get cans of 9-Lives, put the trap by your house or building, and put the food inside (1 can at a time on a plate). Write a note: “Please don’t touch, trapping lost cat, please call (add your #) if seen.” Check the trap every 15 minutes, as you might get other wildlife caught and need to be released. ❗️Be patient — it can take a couple of days to catch him as cats get scared when not used to being outside, and they act differently. They normally hide during the day and come out at night. ❗️Check under the porches and back decks of neighbors, as they make great hiding spots, along with bushes. 🙏🏻 You find him soon 🐈‍⬛
