To parents of lost pets: Beware of scammers who will comment with links for "lost" pets services. (Including Drone services) And they will CALL or MESSAGE you also. Do not fall for their scams. Also, they call using what seems like legit shelter number saying pet needs surgery/help. Hang up and call shelter directly.

TIPS FOR CATS LOST IN UNFAMILIAR AREAS Hope you find your cat! 🐾❤️ please review the tips to help. So sorry! There are TRACKERS (get within 2 weeks) and VOLUNTEER at the bottom of these tips that can help if needed! **If Chipped, be sure it is up to date! And it’s releasable! ** Contact chip company to make them aware!! Cats lost from a place other than home may try to venture back home if close but depending on the environment and your lost cats behavior, they tend to stay close to where they were lost from. STAY in area as long as you can! If not there find someone in area, (check with local shelter or rescues and post for help) to help search and lure your cat back because it will need help to get back. Leave them some dirty clothes of yours to use for scent. Start searching right away to get sightings! Cats hide in silence, even the friendly ones! LURE THEM BACK WITH FOOD AND YOUR SCENTED ITEMS, HUMANE TRAP AND CAMERA. CHECKING AREA SHELTER IN PERSON EVERYDAY! *SHELTERS ONLY HOLD ANIMALS FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE ADOPTING OUT!* - CALL animal control in that area to report lost - SCENTED ITEMS: Place some of your clothing and their bedding around to keep the scent in the area (and away from roads) you can tear up a shirt that has your scent andter around a certain area to help keep them from venturing off and going into roads. Get some sardines and mackerel juice and mix to create a stinky spray, spray around area last seen and spread some on ground leading into the trap if you have set one or back to a safe area. Spray high in trees so wind will carry scent. - SEARCH at dark to dusk shaking treats, or with some food, something smelly like sardines in water, mackerel and call for them softly, don’t rush to them, they may be scared, sit and wait for them to come to you. - SET UP a feeding station with food and water to keep in the area with a trail cam to see if you can watch for his return, once spotted on camera buy or borrow a humane trap cover with your scented item and theirs - ADS: http://www.lostmykitty.com a great place to start, a free site that will send a fax blast to the closest vets, shelters in your area, Craigslist, Facebook for your county and state sites such as: https://www.facebook.com/LostFoundDogs.NC/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/769692416445474/, pawboost.com, petfbi.org, https://24petconnect.com , https://https://www.tabbytracker.com https://lost.petcolove.org/ local newspaper -POSTERS up everywhere! Poster sized neon signs at all the intersections in all directions for 3-7 houses or 50 yards for indoor and 17 house or 345 yards for outdoor radius. Make them big, bold and neon! Place one in yard, businesses in area, tag your car. Use sheet protectors to keep dry, or plastic wrapped and sealed with blow dryer use this Flyer template here: https://search.petfbi.org/flyer.html. Go to local and surrounding post offices and see if you can put Flyers up so all carriers in area are aware!
