Message from Finder

FOUND DOG. I found this dog on Air Depot and the I-240 junction. He was walking down the middle of the road, head down, tail tucked tight between his legs. He is clearly starved - you can count the ribs from a distance and then there is nothing but backbone down to his emaciated hips. But he has a majestic face and head. This is a purebred German Shepherd without a doubt. He is an intact male. He is about 40 pounds underweight. He may be full grown bodily, but his teeth are white and he does not know yet how to lift his leg to pee! I thought that all I was gonna be able to do was feed him. He growled at me, but it was clearly he growled because he’s traumatized and scared. I was not frightened of this dog. So I took the food over to a telephone pool behind my car, but he came over to the car. So I brought the food back over to the car and fed him there. He ate with my holding the tray between my feet so it wouldn’t slide. Then he tried to crawl into my car but his back and wouldn’t let him (I didn’t offer him the car. He just decided that that was where he wanted to go. He’s been somebody’s dog. He let me put the choke chain around his neck; he’s at my hse now, knows “sit” and “stay” and “come” and “lie down.” He let me put the choke chain collar on him. (The blue weave choke chain is mine.) He follows gently on a leash. He HAS belonged to somebody. If anybody knows who this dog belongs to, please let me know because I can’t keep him. I feed feral cats in the backyard (along with Blue Jays! They don’t really get along.) I also have an neurotic cat in the hse so I can’t bring the dog inside. It’s a conundrum. (I will not turn this dog over to just anybody; I worry about theft and scams. I found a purebred Rottweiler one time; a guy claimed it was his ….when I met him, he called the dog to come to him and the dog just put his head down and just stood by my side and refused to go. I refused to give in the Rottie and found him a good home.) I could use the help of this platform. Update: No chip. No vet had time to see him today. Took him into PetSmart (to go to Banfield) put a muzzle on him just in case as there were lottsa dogs there.). He didn’t really like the muzzle, but he endured it. He was interested in all the other dogs, but he wasn’t aggressive at all. He also smelled awful, but he stood patiently while I washed him this afternoon. It won’t be his last bath because I think I only cut that smell in half this time. I don’t wanna subject him to more stress than I have to.

Tena Anthony Hatton I have delayed replying to anyone because I wanted to be a little more sure about what is going on with this dog (whom I now call "Major") I was sure he was young because he kept himself all balled up and protective, but as he relaxed and I gave him a bath (he did NOT have fleas!), it is clear he is a full adult. I can't guess at his age, but he is intact and his humongous balls hang pretty low. (I haven't been around a lot of intact dogs....) Anyway, a day in with him and I can tell you this - he has mange, probably demodectic. It has ahold of his hips, above his tail (and in his tail), is spreading to his back and is behind his big ol' ears. His ears are in serious need of cleaning; his nails are over an inch long and need to be clipped. He has a limp - favors his right hip. It may be dysplasia or he may have been hit by a car, I do not know. I think it only fair that he gets medically evaluated so that people who might want to adopt him have a clear idea of what they may be taking on. (One guy wanted him but seems to have ghosted me after I corrected the NEXTDOOR post to reflect that dog is not a pup but is a full-grown adult. (FWIW, he is very intelligent, very obedient, does whatever I ask of him. I wish I could have a dog.....) I will make a list of people who want him. THIS IS NOT MY FB ACCOUNT SO PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE KEN - HE IS LETTING ME USE HIS TO REPLY; I don't have one, but my email is majormothra@gmail.com is you want to send me a message to be on the list of people who might want to adopt him after I have a better medical picture. Thank you.

I wonder if he is the same one that was at On Cue on 240 and Eastern a few weeks back. I went to find him and he wasn't there. I have a German shepherd and was wanting another. This isn't my dog, but I would take him. We have a big yard in the country.
