Did you ask if the cat belonged to anyone in the building? I hope someone is able to let him inside their home to keep him safe. Even temporarily.

Please check for a microchip. See if flyers are posted nearby, and look on Pawboost and Lostmykitty to try to find the cat's guardian. If no success, please email reputable no- cat rescues from Mayor's Alliance and Chewy's lists of rescues, 75-100+, by copy and pasting email addresses into BCC line. At least one rescue will offer to take the cat in; this is my experience for 30 years now, every time. Be careful though. And if someone claims this kitty, make sure to get legitimate proof of ownership. There are people searching the Internet for unwanted animals to use as bait in dog fighting, to sell for medical research, or sell for drugs to anyone at all, to torture as revenge or sadistic pleasure!
