Anne Holena, because people like you or me cannot hold a dog for a “legal stray hold.” It has to be a licensed Rescue or Shelter. There’s a separate license for holding strays that is applied for and given by the Department of Agriculture of Pennsylvania. Even rescues that are a 501(c)(3) technically are not allowed to hold a dog without that license. In this case, I believe Safety Net Sanctuary in Fleetwood has the contract for Sinking Spring for holding strays.

Susie Olson - if the dog owner is not found after the legal stray hold period why does it “need” to go to a legal-stray hold rescue? Is there Pa law for that need or ? Serious question…thx

I’m with Berks Dog Search page and we would like to share this dog on our page, but there is no finder number available. A finder can message me. And just for your information everyone, it is not legal to give away, adopt, or keep a dog that is found. The dog needs to go to a legal stray-hold Shelter/Rescue if no owner is found soon. Thank you.
