Check for microchip. Also see if flyers are posted in the area he/she was found. Look on Pawboost and Lostmykitty to try to find the owner, and post there also that you found this companion animal. Pawboost has a high rate of success in reuniting companion animal family members. Be sure to get legitimate proof of ownership if someone claims the kittye; if any doubts, don't surrender the cat. If you can't hold the cat indoors till his/her guardian is found, please email reputable no- rescues from Mayor's Alliance and Chewy's lists, 75-100+, by copy and pasting email addresses into BCC line. At least one rescue group will offer help; that is my experience for 30 years, every time. No need to bring found pets to the city shelter, which euthanizes. It is very dangerous offering an animal on the Worldwide web. There are those who search for such ads especially when people sound desperate and when offered for free to use as bait in dogfighting; torture as revenge or sadistic pleasure; to sell them for drugs, breed them to sell kittens and puppies; neglect, abuse, etc.
